Hope you feel better soon sNoWy - feeling grotty at the weekend is a bit rough and shouldn't be allowed!

Batty, I think saying "sod it, it's Sunday" IS the responsible adult thing to do. This probably explains why I am in the situation I am in

I've had a fairly lazy Sunday, I managed to get a fair bit of reading done and took a drive up the coast. I had to drop into work to find out my roster for this week and found that they had wanted to call me in yesterday, but one of my older team-mates had told the boss that he better not dare do that as it was my quality time with YoungPlum and it would be wrong of him to disturb my one weekend off. She knew that if asked I would come in (a) because I like to help and (b) I can't turn down shifts but really this weekend I felt that time off was more important. She's an absolute hoot to work with, a proper old-skool aussie Sheila

Another dreary week at the metaphorical coal-face ahead, but things could be worse the store manager could be back from her holiday - but apparently she has another couple of weeks off - hurrah and huzzah!

On the "stinking pit of doom" front - we are making good progress, but there is still work to be done! Another few more sessions after school should see us clear though.
Where on the coast?

If you don't mind me asking.

=

Had a post removed, regarding Georgia Williams. Was a bit blunt, as I used the f and c words, regarding the purp.

C'est la vie!

=

I've got a PC here (from a tenant), and are doing some security checking. Not only I've had to put on XP SP3, there are over 100 Windows updates to install. I suggested charging a fiver, but now am going for a least a tenner or £15. Time is money, is it not.

Having a day where I achieve very little but am trying to notice what I do get done... like the hoovering, for example, which in itself was no small feat.

Dear Microsoft, stop spell checking my DS posts. I meant hoovering, not hovering. I still do.

Sh1t happens... hope the storm passes!

I've been off work for a whole week and my house is *still* a shit-hole... how did that happen?

Well, actually, because I've spent most of the week playing wth Melony and Mr M
We went to Scarborough yesterday and walked miles... I'd forgotten how big it is!
But we saw the castle, the Sea-Life Centre (otters! Yay!) and had a play on the sand, so the walking was well worth it!

Back tot he chalk-face tomorrow - for my last half-term! again!

Are you sure it is MS and not a FireFox add on, for example?

In other news. A woman who was a friend of some of my neighbours, that I met just once, when she was in the presence of said neighbours, hung herself a couple of weeks ago. She was buried yesterday. Age 26 roughly. To say I was shocked to hear the bad news is an understatement. She seemed so bubbly and happy at the time I saw her, and then this.

That's so sad jra.
It just goes to show, you never know sometimes, from one day to the next, what is going to happen. Life is precious.

That's the third person I know personally, that has committed suicide.

ETA. Sorry, for the above being depressing, but I hope you all bear with me, for trying to express my feelings.

Suicide is horrible I veer between tremendous sympathy for anyone who feels that desperate, to extreme anger on behalf of those left behind to question whether they could have done more, etc.

On balance I think it's an extremely selfish act but I can understand how easily some individuals become convinced that the world would be a better place without them, too...

Thank goodness the sun is shining and I have a fascinating evening to look forward to or I'd be feeling very glum. Big hugs out to everyone that is feeling less than chirpy today (((((((Grumpers)))))))

jra, the GOWs are always here to listen
That's really sad about your neighbours' friend.
Suicide is a terrible event. A work friend of Mr M's killed himself some years ago and it really upset everyone; no-one had any idea he was so depressed and they all felt as though they should have known and been able to do something about it.

On a far more mundane note... I'm working. Whole day at the laptop. Pah!

Thank you Sad. I know from personal experience, with my mother who committed suicide, and I've never got over it to this day, and I used to blame myself, as we had a big argument the night before. The next day she was gone. She killed herself by overdosing on alcohol and distalgesic tablets.

http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/aches-and...stalgesic.html

I nearly fell out/was disowned permanently by my father because of it. However, since then we've made up.

It was always the situation of treading on egg shells with my mother.

I'm thinking, should I be posting this, as it is very personal information.

Erm, I was crying like a baby in the pub the other night reminiscing about a friend whose funeral is this week. I was (ahem) hammered but it's bizarre how these things synchronise in grump land.

Had a nice little walk today, to dust off the cobwebs, so to speak. I'm feeling a bit better now.

Hugs to KJ and jra - I'm really glad you chaps feel you can share with us a bit. Hope it helps.

Here, the sun is shining, the sky is blue and there's a nice cool breeze so I'm not overheating. If I wasn't stuck in lessons all day it'd be perfect...
Never mind - trip out to the shops at dinner time!

I wrote what I wrote (all true) so you wouldn't feel Handy is right. No need to spill details to the Internets, of course.

Cheers, my man. If anything too personal got into the wrong hands, so to speak, I'd just claim I made it up. After all, you can post anything you like on tinternet.

Anyway.

I went down the local 'nature area' and saw the same flutter byes. No blues, as far as I could tell, as of yet. I think it is still a bit early in the year to see them.

jra - I can really relate as my dad killed himself. I hadn't seen him in years so my situation wasn't as raw as yours but I know how it feels to lose a parent in this way. It's a special kind of torture, once the imagination takes off.

So yes, let's think of butterflies.

I had an absolutely lovely afternoon with some friends, sitting in a sunlit garden and celebrating the birthday of one of our group and generally catching up. The phone went off a few times but I ignored it and will deal tomorrow with the builder and assorted other people who are making my life complicated right now.

Hope you get the latter sorted out.

It was a nice day today here in terms of weather, that's for sure.

Did you have a vegetarian barbecue, by any chance? I'm just asking, as I'm not sure whether these things are possible.

Talking about wildlife. I'm going to ask the local council about the bat situation where I live. I haven't seen any for ages.

I vet a lot of my calls as well, as I have caller id.
