Helooooooo

Been a funny old week

Been to the seaside with my class - done discussions on erections and periods with someone else's (the wimp) - practised stage lights for a play - proof read colleagues reports - finished my own - been to the hospital again with the youngest - been to a conference about his condition -

Now I'm catching up with the laundry/ housework (deep joy)

But I have found time to fit in BB and be dazzled by Rylan's new teeth

Only two weeks to go till the big holidays - hurrah!

Hi Amica. I had an erection once. I put up a tent, way back in 1989.

Anyway. Hi everyone.

=

I phoned up my plumber today, regarding the work on the shower, done by his son, which has been successful. I also asked him about possible boiler replacements, as mine is getting on a bit (28 years old in fact).

However with much sadness, I found out that my ex landlord who is living in Spain (a close friend of my plumber), has been suffering from brain cancer (a tumour) and the outlook doesn't look good. Doctors in Spain apparently have given him until the end of the year. Needless to say, I am very upset about this, as he was a very kind and decent man when he was my landlord.

Poor jra, you're having some very bad news at the moment! (((hug)))

It's been showery here, and Melony has been watchin the rain our of our back window - it's quite impressive when it's really pouring because the hills at the other side of the river go all misty and the trees are wooshing about in the wind.
She's just about recovered, so back to school and work and general normality tomorrow.

Amica - four weeks left here!

Hugs to everybody!

Indeed.

Maybe this explains me being most of the time grumpy and sometimes aggressive on DS (for which I can only apologise to those concerned), but I really have been through the ringer in the last 2-3 years, having nearly lost my dad for one thing, which would be a devastating event for me.

Death is a great leveller and bringer of new perspectives. Losing my mum three years ago - and it seems like five minutes ago - knocked me for six.

I hope your friend has a peaceful passing if that passing is inevitable.

Here, right now, I'd just settle for being able to sleep

And look at the time you were posting Sad!

I was going to bed about then, but at least I caught up a bit on stuff so, dare I say it, I think I can see the end of the tunnel.

Now I've typed that I'm fully confident something will come along and bite me on the bum. (no smut please )

@ snowy!

Hello, all!

Today is Melony's Sports Day and I'm going to watch her - wahoo!

Hope all the work and the stress and the insomnia are easing up out there.
Hugs for all who need them.

Evening/morning all

Nothing much happening here. Work as per usual except that I'm looking after another work experience girl which is fun in some ways but a pain in the bahookie in others.

The weather is still being beautiful and so walking DestructoPup is that much more pleasant, excluding her pulling on the lead a bit too much for my shoulder's comfort. We met a snake on our walk today but fortunately he/she didn't seem interested in stopping for a chat and slithered on it's way. I keep forgetting that we might meet snakes so it was a timely reminder to keep an eye out for them!

A cane toad made me jump today as well as it jumped into the pond behind where I was sitting and did a bit of a belly flop so made a HUGE noise. DP was very interested but luckily she just likes to poke at them to make them jump as apparently their skin is toxic.

Tomorrow after work I'm meeting up with a friend from down South who is up here on holiday .... never met in person before but know her from a forum over here. She's another pom and a bookworm and is very funny so I'm guessing it should be a pleasant hour or so - maybe tea and cake but not quite up to Betty's standards no doubt

Good luck to young Melony at her sports day! Hope everyone has a good day and that Batty's bum remains unbitten!

Introducing cane toads to Australia wasn't a good idea, IMO.

Same with the below.

Tea and cake is always good Plummy. Have a fab time.

handy - how did the Sports Day go? Any medals?

I'm slightly knackered but getting loads done as I'm offski to Polski land again soon. I'm taking my boys this time as we have a very rare window of opportunity to go away together as a family, and as things need doing over there I might as well make the most of having them around. Not exactly a proper holiday - more of a city break with tasks.

You need to excuse the language on this but it does make me laugh and lists some of the common fates of the cane toad

Sports day was really cute!
Everybody got medals

Melony is funny at events like this - she's actually quite strong, has good balance and co-ordination and should be really good, but she's usually so busy looking at the crowd/chatting/acting the prat to make people laugh she comes nowhere
I think I prefer that to her crying when she doesn't win, though.
One poor little lad has three members of his famly standing up wildly cheering every time he took part - two of them filming him, all of them roaring at him to "GO ON!!!" He's only four. What on earth will they be doing when he's fifteen???
Anyway - M loves her medal and was very impressed by the fact that they all got an ice-pop halfway through.

As for me - I got sunburn, inevitably!

We haven't got them yet in the UK.

I'm not a great fan of most insects and arachnids (bar butterflies and moths). They make me nervous, as does anything that has a venomous/dangerous bite or can sting me.

I hate scorpions. Really hate them...

... which is unfair because they've never done anything to me. They just look so evil!

I find most things intersting rather than yucky; not that I'd go out of my way to jump on a scorpion or anything, you understand, but they don't revolt me.
I've held snakes and tarantulas and similar beasties at a zoo petting area - brilliant!

I had a lovely evening. The lady I met was extremely nice and very funny and we had a good giggle. Shame she and her husband are only in town for the week. She's from the grim North, a Yorkie

In other news, I bought myself some beautiful new shoes on impulse on the way home from work. They were in a sale and reduced by two thirds of the price - bargainsome and beautiful - I love them. They have brought me great happiness in the 5 hours I've owned them. I've got so used to wearing flip-flops all the time, apart from trainers for work, that I'd almost forgotten how nice it is to wear shoes with heels. I was suddenly much taller than YoungPlum again - yayyy

Fortunately, I've been given a few extra hours to tag on to this week so that will pay for the shoes which I bought without a care in the world as to food budget..... beans on toast are lovely anyway

Glad to hear that Melony is a medal winner, YoungPlum still runs like a new born giraffe so her days of medals at sport seem to be well and truly over but she loves Sports Day regardless.

I wore a pair of high heels once. Yes, really. I can't say it was a particularly pleasant experience. That and the hockey stick and schoolgirls uniform. Yes, I was a student once upon a time.

The three legged race/pub crawl was quite enjoyable, as I was tied up to a woman, literally.
