No, not really. But, it was good for a laugh.

However, I've taken to wearing spoons in my hair and spreading Marmite behind my ears, in order to repel drop cats around here.

Here, I really am starting to see the end of the tunnel. I finished two major thingies yesterday and the relief was amazing.

Talking about dogs, one of the neighbours has got the cutest little dog I've seen in ages, a Chihuahua. They have owned him for about four months. And, bearing in mind I'm not the world's greatest fan of dogs, that is saying something.

Wasps/hornets etc. tend to freak me out.

Spiders, I'm a bit more cautious about these days, because we do have some indigenous (relatively mildly) venomous species, I've found out.

I catch all creepy-crawlies by putting a wide-mouthed glass jar over them and then sliding a bit of card between the jar and the wall/window to trap them.
No damage to the beastie and no damage to me either. And we can have a look at them beofre we let them go, if we want to

Paperwork - I've caught up on our accounts. Not because there's a deadline for that right now, but because when that arrives I'm going to have masses of other stuff to do because of the properties I'm managing. I've also taken on my aunt's local authority. She's my mum's sister and in a care home in London and the place is a horror. She shouldn't be there, but although they kind of agree, her situation is quite complicated and that seems to be flooring everyone involved and nothing's getting done. So I've written a lengthy assessment, checked the legals, and basically said that I'm going to take things as far as I need to to get a result and do they really want to play. Cage rattling on my part and I expect them to back down, but it took ages to write up because I wanted to be very sure of my facts.

I get really pissed off with the system sometimes and I seriously question if it's fit for purpose.

Going by the week I've had - it's not. Not on a personal level but in dealing with my clients. As I said to someone yesterday - 'what happened to the people who CARE?'

I've put a similar effort together for a former client of mine - am hoping it rattles enough cages to get them the support to which they are entitled. The system is heavily weighted against those who do not know how to make their voices heard

That's the other thing that pisses me off - you and I are educated, articulate women who know how to get information etc, and if we're having to put up a monumental fight using everything available to us then where does it leave people who don't have the wherewithal?

I find that with our lovely nhs. The people who are poorly and really need help are too poorly to put up the fight to get it.

We're probably going to be a bit slobby today, although I would love to get a burst of energy to tidy up my desk. It's my next big thingie, to see what's lurking within a mountain of paperwork and then either bin or file away what I find. And then I'll have a lovely tidy work space and a tidy mind... or something.
