Oooooooooo indeed snowy,..... it's all gone quiet out there

Nothing even remotely interesting has happened to me the last couple of days, just work and home stuff. DestructoPup has been as good as she ever is, YoungPlum is her usual cheery self, her sparkly purple cast is starting to look a bit grubby round the edges now and she still has a week to go, god knows what it will look like then!

Hope all the grumps are well and happy. A big special hug for snoWY for always keeping the home fires burning

I would just like to say thank **** it's all over. I've been working my arse off in that shit hole for 8 days, until Monday.

You can now eat your dinner off the floor in the bathroom, which took me 2 days to clean, it was that bad.

Everybody who has come in (artisans and prospective tenants) have been well impressed with the work we have done, and now the two of us may set up a partnership working for this chap, who came in and offered us more business. Time will tell.

I need a rest. I'm supposed to be doing IT work, FFS. Now, I may be a house restorer.

And hi to all the grumpies, after my little rant.

It's lovely to finish a job like that, isn't it jra. I enjoy starting, hate the middle bit, then get a massive high when everything's done.

Here, more pottering around for me today. The garden needs attention. I had big plans to knock it into shape this summer... only the summer seems to be on its way out. There's a real Autumnal feel to this morning.

It's starting to warm up a bit here now as we head towards what I suppose technically is spring. We don't really get 4 seasons as such up here in the tropics, just summer and winter, or wet season and dry season... the "wet" being summer.

I'm mainly feeling tired and sore at the moment. Having not had a two day weekend for several weeks, I've rather foolishly agreed to work again on Saturday which means that it will be another 3 weeks til I get 2 days off. I find it hard to say no ... which can of course get one into a whole heap of trouble

Other than making my colleagues giggle, and YoungPlum too, I lead a terribly boring life these days, and I've only just realised it .... how sad is that I'm going to have to ponder on this.

Hope all is well for the northern hemisphere grumps

Yes! Even the spiders are coming in - we've just had one the size of a pony in the bath. I wrestled it into a measuring jug (that's how I know the size) and screamed a lot while dumping it into the neighbours garden.

batty, you and Melony have a very similar view of arachnids. She wanted me to get one off the windowsill at the opposite side of the bathroom this afternoon

And yup - definitely autumnal here. They've combined the field at the back of our house (hello, lots of dust and little black flies) the brambles are ripe and the mornings are cool. Hooray!

I had a kulchural day at Manchester Art gallery today with another internetty mate - I can highly recommend both the art and the tearooms..,

My sister died two months ago. Although she'd been ill for some time her death was sudden and unexpected. Before I saw her in the afternoon I'd heard optimistic reports from the previous day, so I was surprised to see how ill she looked on my visit but the the staff explained to me their plans of action. 3 hours after I left the hospital I received a phone call to say get to the hospital asap she was dying. She died at 3.15 a.m. the following day.

I miss her so much. She was older than me so she knew me longer than anyone else in my life. I told her everything. Even if she she didn't always agree with me she would put her point gently and when push came to shove she was always in my corner.

Not a day goes by without me thinking of her, missing her and crying for her. I want to hear her voice on the phone, I want to hear her say "Goodnight, God Bless" before we hang up. I just want her back.

Wow, you covered a lot of stuff jra!

I don't know where the week went. Zoomed by. But I'm not complaining - my most excellent spag bog is almost done for later and Batman's on his way home much earlier than usual, so Friday night festivities can begin before too long.

Some people locally often band together and do London pub crawls, getting the train down. I've asked to be added to the circulation list for the next one they organise, having discovered that, while real ale is not my beverage of choice, real cider/perry most definitely is. I'm not sure I could cover the expedition in as much depth as you, jra

BG - spag bol sounds perfect, here it's likely to be fish and chips

TFIF... meanwhile, grumpy hugs for BoS. Smudgee - - I'm going to assume you mean the emotion as opposed to a sneaky grope while I wasn't looking - and hope you're both feeling better at the prospect of a sunny Bank Holiday weekend ahead.

Indeed. We didn't hang about.

We also looked around and/or saw the Olympic stadium from the outside, St Katherine Docks, Lewisham, Stratford.

Next event (maybe). Notting Hill Carnival.

Thanks Sad you did make me giggle. Back home from a weeks hols by the sea. Only positive about being back in the city is that I get to sleep in my own bed! Oh and see the kids and the dogs again (not necessarily in that order).

Hi Smudgee. Get yourself down to Devon and/or Cornwall's coastline, if you haven't been there already. You won't regret it. September, will be a good time, when most of the tourists have pissed off.

ETA.

South Devon, I know inside out, having lived there for over 2 decades, so if you've got any questions, regarding anything and everything about the area, let me know.

Well, I'll try anyway, having stuck my head in the guillotine.
