I'm with the itching powder but also totally agree with going the rescue kitty route asap - poor little melon

(Can you get pink kitties? Just a thought ...)

jra - ignore her, she's probably been on the PG

Had a lovely lazy Sunday lunch at the pub following a far too energetic weekend to date. Tomorrow's looking promising too with a birthday bash at a pub in the afternoon. For someone who rarely drinks, I'm making up for lost time this week

P.S. for jra (tried to post but closed the window instead - )
This would be my destination of choice - spent many a happy summer here as a nipper:

Despite the best efforts of the tourist board it is still relatively unspoilt, apparently - my sister's just come back from a week there.

It's too early...

... I said to Batman, but he insisted.

Too right - well past wine o'clock!

Hope the kitties show up soon - trying hard not to post the associated joke to go with Batty's asking melon to......

Need to find a life instead of watching trash tv. But it goes so well with that odd glass of red.

jra, I do love him really
He came out with Melony in the trolley and a bag of Randoms as a peace-offering, and we eneded up having a really nice day out

batty, stoppit you horror!

Re kittens - no news from the farm, so I think we can sadly say the worst has probably happened

On the plus side, we went over to the animal rescue centre and met two very personable little boys, one black and one white-and-black who clearly have some Siamese in them somewhere as they have long noses!
They are a bit older than the farm kits and ready to come to a new home straight away, and they are sweet, gentle and playful
M is still a bit sad about the farm kits but has already decided these two should be called Diego and Manfred (after the Ice Age characters) and I think they'll get on like a house on fire
We have reserved them, and provided we pass all the checks (which we will, we've had cats forever and the vets will give us a glowing reference!) they shold be moving in on Tuesday or Wednesday.

(...and Mr M has promised me that if the finaces are working out OK in a few months I can go back and get myself a tabby... yay... )

Handy you are so lucky. We had a cat once. She was black with white feet so we called her Sox. She just turned up one day and made herself at home. I loved the way she would greet me in the mornings and leave her little gifts on the doormat. Unfortunately we live on a main road so it was a very traumatic time for us. We decided that while we live on a main road we would not have another cat so had a couple of little dogs instead. They certainly bring joy into our lives but I miss Sox.
Having 2 dogs means that they keep each other company when we are out. I am lucky enough to work close enough to home that I can pop home at lunch time to let them out. My daughters start uni in Oct so they will be at home some of the week as well.
Did not manage to get all the washing dry today as it was a bit cloudy. Will finish it tomorrow then I'll only be faced with the north face of the Eiger in the ironing basket.

Bantham is cool with the sand dunes and Burgh Island. Plus, the narrows, which have 6-8 knot tides at times, can be difficult to navigate against the tide and anchoring can be awkward, due to the sandy bottom downstream, so you have to bury the anchor and/or chain it down.

I've spent some nights on dad's yacht moored in the river.

As far as I'm concerned, that is a compliment IMO, but no willy pictures for now, although batty would most likely be impressed. Blows trumpet.

Sorry, I do apologise. I'm always as horny as a dog with two dicks.

I blame my smart phone for all these shenanigans.

ETA. Should be fun later today, to see some of the responses in this thread.

Looks like batty and jra scared everybody onto Page 2 - and I'm not surprised!

We just had a call from the rescue centre to say the kitties can come to live with us. Hooray!

They have to have their second injections tomorrow and then I can collect them, so I thought I'd go on Thursday lunchtime. Melony is at the childminder's tomorrow so they will get a bit of peace to settle in (and I get first snuggles. Woot!)

jra - I like toad in the hole... make of that what you will

Batty & jra are in the naughty corner

I've recovered from the very welcome two and a half pints of perry yesterday and am on a cleaning spree, but just popped in for kittie updates - what timing *happy dance*

Photos HM - *grovels* - asap

Hugs to all other grumpies as the holidays draw to a close... some of us buying uniform (I almost miss that) and others looking forward to the decluttering that can take place once our offspring have carted themselves off to Uni again ....

Took the dogs over Cannock Chase today. They really love over there with all the different smells. What was supposed to be a nice relaxing walk turned into a mountain hike as my husband decided to go trekking. We all came back absolutely shattered and the dogs, girls and me fell asleep. One good thing was that we saw a couple of deer including a magnificent fallow stag with full set of antlers.

We went out for a meal tonight to celebrate the girls getting into uni. It was just supposed to be us but mother in law overheard plans being made so invited herself. Eldest son came which was nice as he rarely spends time with us. Only a week to go before back to school, where did the six weeks go?

That wasn't me! My account got hacked!!

Smudgee - sounds like you had a perfect day.

Me, I'm massively busy, charging around the country, soon to be on the plane again, writing long lists so I don't forget to do stuff... Mulit-tasking with bells on. Eek.

I'm freaking out cos my dogs are covered in red spots today. I'm hoping that it is just a rash from the ferns from the chase. They don't seem ill and they ate all their food tonight. Just something else for me to worry about.

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah where has August gone?

[/rant]

Hope all in Grumpsville are well despite the lack of sleep, PG, kitties and other forms of anxiety management.

Here, Young Sad is testing his new electric guitar amp (oh, how popular will he be in halls this year?? ) and Little Saddette is snoring. Mr Sad's on the last day of a course sitting exams so hopefully he'll be somewhat happier when he gets home.

As for me, well, I've made a couple of decisions today that basically revolve around life being too short for juvenile passive-aggressive silliness. Keep smiling and carry on

I tell her (not yours, mine) to f--k off now she's an adult. I was told we live in squalor 'cos I left a teabag in the sink FFS!

Must be the time of year. Wonder who wound him up this time? Hope he's having a nice break

KJ - just for once, it wasn't my young adult making me seethe, but a so-called friend who's the same age as me and ought to know better. She's alienating a whole bunch of us and I find it very hard to ignore.

Just back from my third swim in as many weeks... building up slowly, we started with 20 lengths and we're up to 34 this week. Just have to sustain it in the winter

Ooh, Sad, setting me a good example!

Kitties are here - three lovely little boys called Diego, Manny and Sid. When I can get Diego to come out from under the kitchen table I'll do pics!

Signed up with a supply agency yesterday. At least two weeks till I get my clearance through to work - how sad. Not!

Hugs to all. Laura, hope you sleep better tonight.
