At first it annoyed me, but I find it normal now and great casting, the boy who plays Denny a good actor and soo adorable. Also I love how Denny is a lovely boy and not annoying, nothing like Simon Barlow.

Not only is he the child Sharon never thought she'd have, and has she raised him by herself, his father is the love of her life, who tragically died in her arms, so this child is all she has left of him. If anything happens to Denny 1) Sharon won't have a family anymore, 2) she'd have lost the last conneciton to Dennis and 3) chances of Sharon having another baby the natural way are next to none.
So, yeah, her behaviour makes sense, but I can also agree that is will be smothering Denny when he gets a little older and he might rebel, just to get some room to breathe. I find it funny how overly carefull Sharon is to let Jack or Phil get close to her son. She does not know about Phil's involvement in Dennis'death, he is one of her oldest friends, so why can't she trust him with Denny, not even when she is righ there, watching them interact? Same with Jack, he must be there, but not be too close to Denny, and must not ask for any alone time either. What is all that about? It's one or the other Sharon!!! Maybe she is scared someone will try to replace Dennis, but the child is better of with a father figure in his life, even is it is not his real father, or even stepfather. He must also learn to bond with people other than his mother, or he will have severe trouble with realtionships when he grows up. I get that Sharon moves around a lot, but that just adds to the damage. Denny is unable to make friends, as he can move away any second. He can not be close to anyone but Sharon, as they may up and leave, whenever mum feels like it. Sharon must mean well, but she does, indeed, need to get a grip. |

I support you entirely that little Denny needs a father figure, but not Phil-he can't even take care of his own children let alone someone else's- the last thing we need is another damage child soap character. I don't know why Sharon won't let Jack babysit her child. Perhaps it is because she don't want anyone to replace Dennis, which if it is the case, not a good reason. Her reason should be because she don't want any stranger to bond with her child, until she knows him more deeply. It's her duty as a mother to protect him. In the future when Jack earns her trust, she should allow little Denny to spend time with him. I agree with you that lack of attachments in childhood can affect their ability to make relationships in the future. Perhaps little Denny could make friend with Bianca's son Morgan, since they're both of a similar age. It would be lovely to see him making close friendships with children his own age . I |
