Ste and Doug could never leave together. Doug would want to take a taxi. Ste would want to take the bus. Doug would get jealous and pissy because he thought Ste's affection for the bus was related to that bus trip he took with Brendan back in October 2010. They'd have a row, Doug would cry. Ste would feel forced to apologize for even thinking about the bus. They would order a taxi, but Ste would continue to cast longing glances at the bus stop. Doug would get suspicious, snatch Ste's phone and find he'd been looking up bus timetables, plus a big smiley picture of Brendan. Doug's lip would wibble and his voice would crack, and he would bang on endlessly about how Ste never thinks about how hard it is for HIM to have the bus stop right there every day when all he ever wanted was for Ste to feel the same about taxis as he did. Eventually, Ste's head would explode, and as the taxi pulled up late, he'd push Doug in front of it and he would be flattened.

Great post C & S
![]() ![]() ![]() The biggest mistake ES made was to put these two in a loving relationship. I use the term loving lightly. They were great as friends, but they had to be put together to serve as a reason for Stendan to come to the fore again. What a waste of a character (Doug) I can't see how they could both remain in the village as seperate people now and I don't want to see them patch things up either. As good as some of the scenes have been, people will always remember/see Doug as being the brow beaten snivelling little twit. Me thinks one of them will have to leave and the scapegoat will probably be Doug. |

And make it more difficult for Ste to get Doug out of his life (and out of our faces!) But once this SL is over, I really can't see how Doug fits into Hollyoaks any more. He shouldn't even be there anyway. He was on a student visa initially, I assume, and by rights should have been deported by now. And I'm sure the fact that he's a non-UK citizen, who's overstayed a now invalid visa, would make a planned civil partnership a tad more difficult than usual. ![]() Hollyoak, you've got plenty of reasons to get shot of this useless, whiny character - please use one of them!! (Ste won't be going anywhere, btw - the actor has made it very clear that he has no plans to leave, ever, and Ste is a character that BK introduced so I don't think he'd get rid of him) |

Why should they leave? Because some people don't like them together, or one or both of the characters? I'm not understanding why these two are constantly singled out when there are plenty of other characters on the show? I love both characters individually, and when the writers aren't p*ssing about with their story they can have some good scenes together. I also think PJ and Kieron are amongst the stronger actors on the show. Outside of DS they have plenty of fans so I really don't think they need to be axed just because they bug some folk.

I wouldn't be surprised if both of them are gone in a year's time. I don't think there'll be much to do with them once Brendan leaves, unless they stay on as background characters.

Doug should leave.
He's had a complete personality transplant since getting with Ste. Ironically the same thing happened when Ste starting getting with Brendan. Doug was actually one of my favourite characters before he came out, but now I tend to zone out when he has scenes with Ste. |
