Would you like to see Nico cast as a new Gay character for EE?

I have always suspected that Nico could be gay, if he is ever upgraded to a regular character could he be seen as a possible replacement for Chryed?

Not particularly.

There has not been any signs that he might be gay - in fact he fancies Lauren.

Is the character even still around? He hasn't been seen for ages and Fatboy no longer works at McKlunkys.

No this is not a good idea . Anyway as someone has pointed out he fancies Lauren .
Why do people always want more gay characters I

Eastenders doesn't need another gay character, the problem with gay characters is every storyline seems to revolve around their sexuality, when there is so much more to explore.

Take the latest Syed story, he's getting involved in some dodgy business dealings, but to add into the mix we've got Danny who he is having some kind of fling with.

I'd have no problem if Nico turned out to be gay, but I don't think a big deal should be made out it. Nor do I think, it should as a replacement just cause two other gay characters are leaving.

I'd like to see a lesbian couple with a young daughter around Dennys age, they bed in to the square, maybe come in to run the Vic? basically a bit Roxy and Ronnie but in a relationship, no need to have any coming out troubles or sexuality based storylines as they are already together and rock solid, but of course being EE there are dark secrets in their past that will be revealed each Xmas lol

You could say the same thing about most straight characters...

If Syed had been a straight female who'd had a moments passion with Danny, most viewers wouldn't have considered that a specific 'sexuality' was playing a part in the storyline - in other words, Joey and Lauren's storyline won't have people going 'Oh no, why must straight issues play a role in this storyline' because it's not the main thrust of the storyline and neither is Syed's sexuality during his. They can hardly pair him with another woman to create issues before his wedding.

Syed's latest storyline has little to do with him being gay and everything to do with his place within the Masood family - how Zainab has always been over-attached to him, how Masood has always been suspicious of him, how Tamwar has always been jealous of him because of his mother's favouritism and how in turn Syed is feeling suffocated by his family now that Christian has been welcomed into the fold.

I've seen a lot of threads and posts relating to Nico. I'm surprised that what is essentially a character whose sole use was to be a storyline device with fatboy has resonated so much with the audience?!

No one ever asks for Phil to be made gay, yet it would explain his life long obsession with self destructive activities and his lack of happiness. In fact, if Phil turned out to be gay and struggling to cope with it, I think that could be interesting. All those years of trying to be the hard man his mum wanted, he had to crush those feelings out.

But oddly enough no one wants to see a guy over 40 as gay or whatever, its almost like they just want attractive buff men to be gay only. Seems a little unfair that gay is reserved for attractive people only.

You could, but I do rather feel gay characters are pidgeon holed into the gay issues when they could do something different and more original.

I understand completely the basis for this story, but I just don't think Syed having a whirlwind kiss with Danny added anything. I don't really like Danny anyway, but besides that the Danny being gay thing felt very forced, whereas it could just as easily been about a dodgy business deal and left at that.

I see the Danny kiss as a catalyst for the money stuff to come out, and it seems that according to the PO spoilers,
Spoiler
Danny's out for revenge at the end of the month, presumably because he got rejected/punched in the face.

Also, Syed kissing someone else isn't a 'gay issue', as it's nothing to do with his sexuality or him struggling with it or anything. It's just to cause tension and a bit of will they/won't they before the wedding.

Well, I kinda hope Christian doesn't forgive Syed. But I still can't get over how forced Danny was, that whisky line was cringe worthy!
