This is a good idea from ITV to block out the rubbish joke acts on recap / catch up shows. Shame they didn't think of doing that last year when Frankie was on

That would be very unfair on Rylan as he would lose votes if his performance doesn't get shown as much as the other contestants.
Not his fault if something was added to the song that infringes copyright.
They have to give Rylan a pass to next week if they don't give him equal air time on repeat broadcasts before the voting has closed.

You have 2 options:
a) Rylan decided to do it himself
b) Another contrived 'controversy', they've been doing this long enough to know what you can and can't do
Both are equally as likely, and neither deserve any outrage nor sympathy.

YG Entertainment (PSY's Korean label) probably threatened to sue for him covering (and destroying) Gangnam Style. His label done this a few times after some singers in Indonesia covered Big Bang and 2NE1's song.

The funny thing is his version is actually sung better than the original.
On ITV2 they just broadcast the end of Rylan's performance on the recap - no 'for legal purproses...' message appeared on screen.
EDIT: Just watched the performance again on youtube (I'm a glutton for punishment) - I think the 'RylanStyle' moment had been cut from the ITV2 repeat.
