Hollyoaks - could they do a live episode?

with Corrie and Eastenders having done live episodes and Emmerdale just about too could Hollyoaks follow?

i think it could work but they would have to use there stronger actors and long term cast i think the ideal cast for it would be

tony
jack
darren
nancy
jacqi
rhys
myra
frankie
cindy
brendan
ob
tom
possibly silas

maybe a few of the students as small roles

having the teens ect would totally bomb the episode

any thoughts or storylines they could do for a live?

I don't see why they wouldn't be able to as long as they keep some of the more wooden actors/actresses out of the episode! I shall not name names!!!

I don't see why they'd want to. Its such a daft gimmick. I hope they steer clear.

Agreed, it ends up being all about the "will they or wont they mess up", I would rather see a good storylines with great actors and them taking their time to get it all right.

I hate to say it but would it not cost alot of money for hollyoaks without getting such a payback.

Hollyoaks are better investing their money into spin off shows like the walker special and hollyoaks later with big stunts then a one off live episode. i dont think the viewing figures will do it justice

I don't think it would be viable with the viewing figures they get.

Hollyoaks is filmed totally differently to the other soaps (using a single camera, so there's a break in filming each time a new camera angle is needed). Most of the cast and crew wouldn't be used to the techniques needed for a live episode.

I can't see the need. It's usually a ratings grabber novelty thing, or in Corrie's case was a throwback to how it was originally live once a week. Oaks isn't usually a sheep soap, it's usually the one trying new things first.

I wouldn't want it personally - it would add nothing and the extra effort and budget involved hiring extra cameras and stuff would probably just have a negative effect on other episodes (although they can apply for extra budget for special events, it doesn't seem necessary).

Reminds me of the Simpons, Homer is at an animation studio for a cartoon on the TV. He asks if the shows are live, and the guy replies "that would be too much for the artists hands"

Haven`t they already said they won`t do a live ep. All they`d be doing is copying other soaps and hollyoaks doesn`t need to do that so im glad there won`t be one.
