On the contrary it takes much longer to achieve than a regular close shave.

btw apropos bowl hair cuts - do you actually know the origin of the style Terry?

It was originally sported by those who couldn't afford the services of a barber. A reasonably tidy finish could be achieved by a non professional by simply placing an appropriately sized bowl on the head, to the level of the ear, and trimming or shaving all exposed areas.

I've never seen a bowl the shape of Luis' hairstyle Terry - have you?

Agree, I find it a little sad when I see threads like this. We should all just be clones wear the same clothes, have the same hair styles and never take chances on the off chance we will be judged and criticised for it

I saw your message when I got back so I couldnt get you a crunchie unfortunately, but thank you for letting me know about gelatine, I can't believe they have been putting animals in my sweetie treats, I'm totally devastated, I won't be able to look at Louis hair in the same way again.

I agree, I like to see people who have the confidence to be a bit different. What a dull world it would be if no-one dared to try something new.

Eh, I think people are just having fun. It's a shame that some (not all) of Louis's fans are a bit stiff about it. There's no harm in having a laugh at the guy's hair. It's hair. It'll grow. I love Pasha very much for reasons of hips, cuteness, swiftness of foot etc but had no difficulty at all laughing at his hair. Relieved he's growing it out but was more than happy to giggle while it resembled a merkin, as someone very wittily said.

The time to get annoyed is when you have multiple threads about things that cannot be helped or altered. Eg the class hatred for Chelsee last year. Or threads that mock someone's sexuality or weight or origins. I'm looking wider on DS for that last one. SCD forum isn't that bad.

Hair is just hair.

I see what you mean. I might be over sensitive but I just notice that whenever someone tries something different they usually get slated for it. I like a bit of individuality .

I am not really a Louis fan but I like his hair

Ha ha! That's a great perspective and probably unique on here. (Which you'll like )

There is a clear difference between being individual and trying something different, and attention seeking.

If you go on National TV with a pontefract cake on your head as Louis has done that is plain attention seeking as we have seen with David Beckhams addiction and ridiculous hair over the years, who can ever forget him trying to distract fans from his many penalty misses by sporting two pony tails.

David Beckham is a very attractive man whatever hairstyle he's got, he's also got a gorgeous body which is in demand for modelling work and is a multi-millionaire - I don't think his hairstyles have done him any harm.

BTW, the pontefract cake joke is wearing a bit thin now when it's repeated ad infinitum on several threads.

I think his haircuts have helped him, his willingness to take risks and be a trendsetter are what have made him an icon.

He also seems a great dad and genuinely nice guy, so I don't think Louis would be going far wrong trying to emulate him. He has style and individuality and seems very nice, so I hope Strictly does give him the platform to explore new avenues. I can think of worse role models for my son.

Louis really doesn't want to emulate David Beckham, this is the fashion failure who has got half of the Nations men walking around in those ridiculous shrunken short trousers complete with exposed white calf's and black socks, there are more fashion failure sheep in England than the rest of the world.

Maybe it would be attention seeking if he had specifically cut his hair like that for Strictly- but it's been like that for months. Maybe he just likes it?

I also hope that Louis doesn't go down the goaty bearded long haired tramp look road of Brad Pitt, its laughable to think that the 'Eud-De-Brad' tramp look add is going to seduce me into buying Channel No5.

Exactly. I know one or two lads who have been watching Strictly because of Louis (and because of his Olympic achievements) and they love his hairstyle. From what I've seen of him during the Olympics and after, he would be a great role model for boys.

Louis has been in the public arena for months, thats why it's attention seeking, not a good thing to have picked up from David Beckham.

To pull a stunt attracting flashing cameras, that's fine. When the public have started watching then it is time to compete on dance merit. This is not a hairdressing competition.

Where a gimmick drowns the core message, it becomes self-defeating like an advert drawing attention to itself rather than the product.

Or it could be he just likes his hair like that. especially as one of he pros has exactly the same haircut but we don't seem to be pontificating endlessly about the message he's trying to convey.

To be absolutely fair to L***s, the hair suits nakedness much better than it suits formality. His mistake IMO was to go more baldy at the sides whilst gussied up in tails.

Your quite right Strictly Come Dancing is an entertainment show not a hairdressing competition, silly distracting cuts should be grown out before the show starts.

I didn't know that Louis was a naturist too, its a bit cold for that sort of thing, his pontefract cake might shrink.

Len suggested James get a haircut. So besotted was James with Cherie that he did, and maybe won an extra mark from Len. Robin's hairstyle is a relief compared to his string vest.

I would love to know what message Louis is trying to convey. Winter is here. When he steps outside his message is likely to be: gosh my head is cold.

Louis was on camera saying he wore his hairdo to get attention and recognition, no doubt on advice from a media consultant. He said nothing about liking it that way. Between Olympics and Strictly his hair grew back and he did nothing about it. After Week 1 he had a fresh haircut -- on advice from a hare-brained media consultant?

He's not a naturist - where did you get that idea ?

I doubt that very much. He's not soft. He'll be no more cold than Colin would be for instance. Anyway what are hats for ?

And he's not "trying to convey a message". He just likes quirky hairstyles.
