Now Stuart Blackburn is leaving...

Will the new producer take the show back to its realism and rural self?
I mean Gavin Blyth revamped the show and took it back to its farming roots. And that stayed until he died(r.i.p)
When Stuart took over he completely changed the show. He brought it away from the realism and just focused on dark storyline's which didn't suit the show.
Also Stuart changed the titles and theme.
I read in an article that originally Gavin Blyth had planned for the titles to be new modern shots of the yorkshire dales with the theme reworked a little.
I think i remember him saying that he didn't want to stretch too far from the current title sequence.

What are you hoping from the next producer?

Stuart Blackburn has done a good job, in my opinion. He will certainly shake up staid ol' Corrie, and I am sure some of 'em are fearing the axe.

They don't appear to have announced who the new boss is at Emmerdale.

I have a feeling that they may try and maintain the currently very effective, stable period that has been maintained since Gavin Blyth took over in 2009. They may make Tony Hammond, currently assistant producer, the main producer...or they may promote the story chief Angus Towler...Angus is an experienced producer from way back...he succesfully produced leading dramas like London;s Burning, back in the nineties, so would be a good choice.

Or they may go for a 'shake-up' outsider, someone like Paul Marquess, or former EastEnders boss Diedrich Santer, to move the show to a radical new level.

It depends on how ITV are thinking. ITV ratings need to improve, so maybe a complete change will be favoured.

No, he is leaving Emmerdale at the end of this year. His first Corrie ep's will air in late Feb/March 2013, I imagine.

We should hear the identity of the new Dales boss, soon.

Don't even joke about that. The only time Paul Marques is brought in, is when a channel wants to axe a programme.

Too right. The way he ruined 'The Bill'. It used to be so good.
