Has Tracey always been evil?

I was a kid in the 90's and never really saw Corrie and I was wondering if Tracey was always bad or did she only turn bad when Kate Ford started playing her?

She must have some condition, maybe autism (?) as this is a wide spectrum after all. What ever it is, what enables her to say anything because she simply fails to grasp the consequences of what happens when the truth comes out.

The fact Michelle and Steve don't make her take a test in front of them and take her word without question is baffling.

I always thought she was a stroppy teenager with a bad temper back in the 1990s, not evil. It wasn't until 2002 when they recast her with Kate Ford they turned her into an evil bitch.

She even got along well with Wendy as well, which I guess will be forgotten.

I just find the whole Tracy/Steve fiasco so repetitive.

She'd actually moved on from Steve in her last stint when she got together with Charlie. I don't know why the producer thinks it is entertaining for us to sit through Tracy feuding with Steve's girlfriends it was great the first time round with Karen but each time they have rehashed it since (Becky, Michelle) it has been more diluted than the last.

Tracy was a good child from what I can recall, who then rebelled as a teen but she was never 'evil', she wanted independence from Deirdre (and who could blame her?). She then got married and left the show. When she returned played by Kate Ford they regressed the character into some sort of comical bitch figure but it was genuinely entertaining I will admit.

But then Steve Frost came along and decided to up the ante, we would see Tracy pretend she was a victim of domestic abuse and even go as far as burning herself with an iron, she would then kill Charlie all because he cheated on her. That did not fit with Tracy's previous characterisation at all. Tracy looks out for number 1, she'd want revenge on Charlie and Maria but she wouldn't go as far as to kill him, now they have taken Tracy back to how she was pre the murder. Unfortunately for me I now find it hard to take her seriously as a character she has had that many personality transplants, I got on board with Ford initially, the acting wasn't great but the Tracy/Karen stuff was a joy, but I can't get on board with the later swapping back and forth of personalities and the fact Charlie is now being wiped from existence.

I remember her wearing Doc Martins when she got married to somebody in the mid 90s, she seemed okay then.

The previous Tracy when she was played by the other actress was never a bitch, she was a nice girl. Yes she did take drugs briefly but that was just a silly mistake by a naive teenager. It was when Kate Ford was cast in the role and character returned in 2002 that she became some horrid panto baddie. The reason for her personality change remains a mystery.

Tracy was always just a normal, everyday kid years ago who had a massive crush on her new neighbour Steve McDonald as soon as he moved to the street, but was never evil! The first sign of any real rebellion from her was when she called her mother a "rotten cowing tart!" lol!

Her character has been ruined, and no amount of sharp one-liners or comedic roles can ever redeem her. She should still be in prison, end of, and her return has only resulted in the ruination of too many other good characters, Deirdre being the main one!
