Corrie mass sacking story in the Star (Possible Spoilers)
I see the old chestnut of mass sackings at corrie due to new producer has read its head again.
http://www.dailystar.co.uk/posts/vie...tars-fear-axe/ Does anyone really believe this? I think that the only time that this has happened is when Brian Park took over. Whenever any other producer has come in perhaps two or three main characters have left but hardly a mass clearout. An example of this was when Phil Collinson started the only main characters that he axed was Ashley & Claire Peacock. Molly, Jack & Ciaran all left because the actors that played them decided to leave. So he could hardly be called an axman and I doubt the new guy will be either. |

He's not even left the offices of Emmerdale yet, he can hardly do anything at Corrie right now

I'm pretty sure that almost every Corrie producer change comes with an article like this from the tabloids. Nothing to be taken too seriously.

I wouldn't believe a word of it.
The same article states that Blackburn has "done a good job on *Emmerdale" - anyone who's watched 'Emmerdale' lately will know just how untrue that statement is! |

Blackburn didn't wield the axe at Emmerdale. No reason why he would at Coronation Street.
Just read it all the way through. Julie *Hesmondhalgh? Hah as if. And hasn't Craig Charles recently signed a new long term contract? |

Craig Charles signed a 3 year contract
But Katie,Chesney and Izzy,Sunita would be ideal for the chop |

I doubt Alan (Tyrone) has anything to worry about - he's had two massive storylines in the last three years and is in the middle of one of the biggest at the moment.

Our ITV source added: “Stuart’s a safe pair of hands but he’s bursting with ideas of how to get Corrie *ratings through the roof. Well this quote pisses all over the article! Since when did Stuart Blackburn do a good job on Emmerdale? And one can only be horrified at what those ideas are!

No doubt DS will copy and paste this and everyone will believe it. Stuart Blackburn has made mistakes at Emmerdale but he's dragged it out of Gavin Blyth's doomfest /Hollyoaks obsession. |

Sean, Chesney, Fizz, Ryan, Rob, Katy (Or just get her away from boring Chesney), Dennis, Rita, Gloria, Dev, Sunita, Karl, Michelle, Tracy, Maria and Kirk.
All the characters I'd love SB to axe, though I think axing Rita wont be popular and will never happen I would add Ken to that list but he is Corrie and like Rita he'd never be axed. |

Well I think it's par for the cause that when a new producer comes in that he/she is on the lookout for changes, that's what makes 'continuing dramas' refreshed and invigorating. Obviously the older characters need to stay - otherwise Corrie will turn into another Hollyoaks.
I am however intrigued as to who's up for the chop. I personally can't decide, as each character has different quirks I like and would like to continue seeing on screen. I say forget about culling and concentrate on creating new and exciting plotlines to keep us gripped and on the edge of our seats!

If there is any truth in this, the actors should be pleased it's SB taking over and not me, as they would fear for their jobs.
The so called untouchables and sexy, gobby stars would be the first on my long axe list. |

Without getting into groundhog day about what Blackburn's done to ED, I will give him that in 'putting his own mark on the show', he tried to do this by primarily throwing existing characters into new situations and dynamics. Whether that worked or not is another story, but I will give him the tiniest bit of credit for at least TRYING to freshen up existing characters rather than going on an axing spree.

With any new boss axings are inevitable and not unexpected as are new characters and storylines it the old chestnut for every soap who get a new executive producer these papers just write rubbish to fill the column inches as them saying his done good at ED which is laughable.
