I've been thinking this for a long while now. But popular opinion would say otherwise so I have kept my mouth shut.

I think Steve McDonald has had his day and needs to go.

Over the past few years he has been stuck on the same boring merry-go-round involving Tracy, Michelle and several other women. Initially with Karen, it proved for pretty decent viewing along with her feud with Tracy. Since then it has got gradually more tedious.

The situation also isn't helped by Simon Gregson's increasingly horrendous acting. Years ago he seemed fairly competent and carried off the bad lad role fairly well. Steve mellowed a bit and Simon was still pretty good until somewhere between Steve leaving Karen and getting together with Michelle.

Since then all Simon Gregson seems to do is pull weird faces and talk as though he's a baby. These days I just find his performances utterly bizarre.

I think at the very least the character needs a very extended break and writing team need to get their act together and sort out this character. Perhaps someone needs to remind Simon Gregson how to act.

I agree. I have always found it unbelievable these beautiful women would fight over him.

I'm a fan, it's his partners that annoy me apart from Becky.

Just your opinion OP he is very liked I like him he is a character, good looking women don't always go for the Brad Pitts you know.

i can't stand him - he's not even a trained actor - just got lucky, as the producers were scouring schools for talent in the 80s looking for steve and andy

No way he is good character and his storylines always crack me up, oh and his hair aswell.

Corrie would not be the same without Mr McDonald.

I completely agree with this post. Steve cracks me up too, I love the character. Lloyd is great too and I like them together.

Steve just picks awful women.

I agree OhWhenTheSaints. His comic timing is spot on. I particularly enjoyed his argument with Michelle. And Tracey's finally got what she wanted - for them to split up. Poor Ryan.

I expect they aren't accepting a wage from Granada to act in a soap?

Kym Marsh admitted she fancied Simon in his early days, so its not unrealistic that she would go out with him.

That doesn't mean everyone has to agree with it , each to their own.

I fancy him. He's a great character and seems like he'd be a nice bloke in real life.

Steve can be annoying and he certainly doesn't do much these days, but there is no way producers would ever axe his character.

I like Steve and the fact he has been around so long. Too many characters come and go, while I understand the need for some change I feel the character of Steve is written in the right way. What I do think is that the Tracy saga has to end, move Steve away from this and give Tracy a new direction. I hope Steve and Michelle does work in the long term, he has been good for Ryan and as a couple they could go far.

He just reminds me of Eddie Munster. He is a poor actor and the gurning can be annoying but he is popular so I cant see him being on Stuart Blackburn's hit list. They do need to write him different stories than with Tracy tho - its becoming more than tedious.

I like Steve, I like how he gets deeper and deeper into trouble every time by a small lie then digs himself deeper and deeper. or he'll try to do the right thing but still gets him in trouble. Always revolving around women, because thats his weekness.

NOOOO ! ...OP ; Steve is wonderful . IMO he's the only saving grace in CS. He's the one who you can tell what he's thinking by the expression on his face . I love Steve. NEVER get rid of Steve. I'm hanging on to CS by my fingertips but I love when Steve's in the mix somewhere.

You should catch yourself on, so you should. If anything we need more McDonalds, so we do.
