Hollyoaks- why would they do a funeral after 4 months?

It was a coroners case (Murder) They didn't release the body until after the murderer was charged. That was a month ago, so still a little delayed.

Rileys body is not being released either.

If there is an ongoing murder investigation,then the funeral could be held up for years,this is normal and very believable..Other than, I am sure her family would want her to be laid to rest in Ireland,close to them.

Normally if there's a long wait they hold a memorial service (what Riley's dad was doing back in california for him) but I guess Cheryl had a lot to deal with all in one go, now everything has finally calmed down again they can hold the funeral!

That is what I thought too. She only came to Hollyoaks because her friends were living there, surely her family would want her buried near to them, just like with Carl saying he wants Riley buried in California near to them.
