Why Is There So Much Bad Feeling Between Ken And Tracy?
GeorgeMarsh

Ken's been really horrible to Tracy yet he is very quick to jump to Peter's defence when he's done bad things.

And why does Tracey never open up to Ken? Its always Deirdre, I think if she did he would understand her more.

Generally speaking I don't think there is that much bad feeling between them, it just seems to have flared up all of a sudden. Granted Tracy is closer to Deirdre but she and Ken usually get along fine. For the sake of this storyline I think Ken has just become sick of Tracy's antics.

It is true that he sticks up for Peter a lot more but although Peter does a lot of stupid things, he doesn't do them out of malice unlike Tracy.

You could twist that and say Deirdre is quick to have a go at Peter for his problems but she always sticks up for her manipulative murdering but hot daughter

You can hardly compare anything Peter has done with Tracy! She took another's life in cold blood is it any wonder Ken is wary of her?

At least they have a realistic relationship unlike Deirdre/Tracy.

Because unlike Deirdre, Ken can see right through Tracy and all her malice! And for all of Peter's faults and stupid choices in life, he has never deliberately set out to hurt anyone or play with their emotions like Tracy does! No wonder Ken wants nothing to do with her, if it wasn't for Amy I'm sure he would just disown her completely!

I disagree with this. Peter isn't quite as bad as Tracy, but he can be as equally spiteful and malicious when he chooses to be.

Didn't he ask Leanne if she was pregnant the other week?!

I remember him being very put out and hurt when her real dad came on the scene, so there is love there just hidden behind all of Tracy's goings on.

I would like them to have a heart to heart and it wouldn't hurt Ken to stick up for her once in a while, Steve's been no saint but he's quick to defend him.

I wouldn't call her hot, I don't like her personality, which makes her ugly on the outside as well as inside.

Ken has the measure of the vile cow, unlike Deirdre..Good on him for doing something, and seeing through her nonsense.

I think it is just that Ken has no illusions about Tracy's behaviour and although Peter is incredibly selfish, a lot of his problems do come from his alcoholism which an illlness. He does hurt people badly but he rarely sets out to hurt them whereas Tracy delights in it and her only excuse is not getting the man she claims to love. That hurts yes but you cankt make someone love you back. Tracy has done dreadful things - besides the murder (which ken might not know she confessed to) she drugged Roy and then claimed they'd slept together nearly destroying his marriage. She let him think it was his baby, grwo to love Patience then grab her back. She led everyone to believe that an innocent woman pushed down stairs causing miscarriages. She set Gail up and gave false testimony partially leading to Gail's conviction. The list goes on and Peter's faults don't compare. Plus, Ken feels guilty for not having brought the Twins up and probably over compensates with Peter, especially given Susan's death. Tracey is the only one of his children he's brought up so perhaps feels she's already had advantages though he was pretty careless with his treatment of her following the Wendy Crozier divorce and when Daniel was on the way and a baby.

^^^ This. Ken is not blinded towards Traceyluv the way her stupid mother is. Personally I think Deirdre's unquestioning blind loyalty to Traceyluv is out of character - Deirdre didn't used to be stupid, and she's really not doing Traceyluv any favours now by encouraging her nastiness and lies.

Ken is hardly blind to Peter's faults. The two are always disagreeing with one another. He's nothing like Deidre is with Tracy.

He doesn't all ways stick up for Peter, even Ken was on Leanne's side during all the Simon stuff. And even then, Peter doesn't set out to hurt people, unlike Tracy who does.

I remember Ken clashed with Deirdre after Charlie's murder as he believed Tracey had not acted in self-defence so whether he knows about the confession or not he thought she was guilty at the time.

There is a difference between supporting your child and letting them walk all over you.
Ken supports Peter to an extent but he has never been blind to his faults and he wasn't always there for Peter when he was a kid so maybe he does overcompensate. That being said, I don't reckon it's fair to compare Peter to Tracy.

Peter is an alcoholic so he can be selfish and he is certainly no stranger to lying but Tracy is a lying, conniving, scheming murderer who sets out to hurt people. She gets a kick out of it. Deirdre allows Tracy to walk all over her and Ken chooses not to. Simples.

It's down to blood. Ken is supporting his own flesh and blood and Deirdre hers.

Ken might have adopted Tracey but she isn't "of his loins".

Deirdre is no relation at all to Peter - he's just Ken's son and she isn't his mother, adopted or otherwise.

IIRC around the time of Peter's bigamy and Tracy selling her baby to the Croppers, Ken was actually harsher towards Peter than Tracy.

Ken was fairly forgiving towards Tracy up until she committed cold-blooded murder - then he actually washed his hands of responsibility for her and said, "She's Ray Langton's daughter" - unfairly so because Ken had been Tracy's father-figure for as long as she could remember.

Ken and Deirdre need to wake up and take responsibility for the way their kids have turned out - and now Wendy Crozier's knocking around again would be a good time for Ken to remember that his affair was what sent teenage Tracy off the rails and started a downward spiral.

And Ken is clearly smitten isn't he? I mean Wendy is a chic and well educated mature lady. Poor old gravelly voiced, chain-smoking Deirdre with her Poundland chain belts and stretchy Primark tops ..... no contest .... but I did love her quip about not being into existentialism at the Autumn Fayre.
