Is Gary only disliked because he does not conform to the stereotypical image lots of men seem to be, i.e. sleaze bucket and lots of girls get excited over?

I'm a male viewer, and although I don't like Gary as a judge, I like him more as a person. He seems like a good family guy.

When I see threads about people saying he's too serious, it makes me think it's because of the above.

Gary is just like Mel B in how he tells it how it is. He doesn't bother to sugarcoat things and say nice things all the time.

He's definitely the most honest judge. Some people don't like him because they consider him "boring" and a "bully" which I don't really understand.

He's the least honest judge, thinks he's the best and can't take any criticisms. He gives criticisms to other acts and their mentors and yet at the same time he's doing the exact same things.

I can't say I know or care much about him. I know he was responsible for some of Take That's output and for that he should not be forgiven.

As I've said before - he strikes me as a basically decent chap, but boring. Unfortunately, he has a role to play that demands he is anything but boring and all this Northern Hard-man malarkey is just part of the stage act he's come up with to seem interesting. He's not quiet because he's mean and broody, he's quiet because he can't think of anything clever to say.

Tulisa should learn from him.

I don't think Gary is disliked as such but he isn't a very good mentor imo. He doesn't pick the right songs for his contestants. Apart from X-factor he's OK though, seems like a decent guy.

I can only speak for myself.

A talented songwriter obviously, though not my cup of tea.

Zero personality, zero charisma, said he was joining X Factor to bring some credibility back to it and has done the complete opposite, completely sold out.

I think Gary is brilliant! Wonderful songwriter, like the majority of his music and he does come across as a nice guy. I actually like him as a judge, bar him putting through Frankie (but I still think that was a producer decision)

He is disliked for doing his job, I doubt he chose to put Frankie into the competition and support him, and I imagine he was secretly delighted when he got booted off, but people will not forgive him for it. I don't like his attitude towards Rylan but I am not about to 'hate' him for it, it is his opinion, shared by a lot of people it would seem.

Gary as a person is a decent man, who just been through a tragic bereavement but is being a total professional in fulfilling his role when he must have wanted to grieve privately for a few months. He has to be Cowell's mouthpiece and we all know what he would be saying to Rylan, having put him into the live shows for the publicity.

Where I disagree with Gary is that if Rylan is a novelty act who can't sing, what are Lucy and MK1? neither of them can sing either so why not call them a joke.

Can't stand Barlow because he's so fake and just comes out with statements that he's rehearsed back stage 20 minutes before

I think the nickname Borelow says it all. He is monumentally boring, and strikes some low blows.

He's a funsponge. He literally sucks every bit of fun out of a room. I can imagine him at a party putting coasters under everyone's drinks and turning the music down and doing a bit of Ned Flanders style finger wagging when anyone got a bit too boisterous.

He's had a horrible personal tragedy recently and for that I'm truly sorry for him but he was a pompous, boring ass before that.

Which bit Skip old fruit? My suggesting that Take That were awful or that Barlow is dull? Both seem obviously true to me.

Dont think he right for the show as he is a good family man who does have family values. Therefore seams abit dull as a judge.

But hey thats just me. I still have him as a judge than some drunk layabout who only fame is falling out of a night club.

I agree I think its a little like one rule for him and another for everyone else. He often attacks the other judges acts for things he is doing with his own acts.
