YouTube views -- Popularity Ranking?
I was looking at YouTube clips from the weekend and noticed that the number of views seemed to tally with my own perception of their popularity (and was also better at predicting who was going home than the betting odds)
Here are the current figures: Ella Henderson 576,346 21% James Arthur 322,270 12% Rylan Clarke 322,009 12% Lucy Spraggan 266,608 10% Jahmene Douglas 234,702 8% Union J 218,716 8% MK1 170,732 6% Jade Ellis 164,054 6% District 3 145,300 5% Kye Sones 140,015 5% Chris Maloney 117,441 4% Melanie Masson 114,418 4% Now, obviously YouTube rankings are not the same as phone votes (e.g. Chris wasn't in the bottom two this week, and I'd expect Rylan is likely to be much lower in the actual votes) but I wonder if this gives us a fairly accurate sense of who is doing well. How close do you think these will be to the actual voting shares? |

Ella's first live show performance got 2m views that's ridiculous.

In order of likes:
Ella Henderson 9,578 Union J 8,251 James Arthur 7,843 Lucy Spraggan 5,865 Jahmene Douglas 5,026 Rylan Clark 4,308 MK1 3,569 District 3 3,559 Jade Ellis 2,880 Kye Sones 2,317 Christopher Maloney 2,082 Melanie Masson 1,793 Pretty accurate, let's not forget District 3's ranking will be higher because they have a younger fanbase more likely to watch their videos. |

Here's the comparisons I did for last year's lot, I think Youtube is a much better indicator than the likes of Twitter and some of the online polls. |

All overs out by week 4 would be pretty hilarious.

I don't think it's that accurate; someone could have perhaps heard someone say "Oh you should have seen *so and so's performance* so that person would go look just out of interest.
Friday by Rebecca Black got something insane like 20 million views and that was awful! |
