You're making an assertion that's purely on the here and now. Remember what Kylie was like when she first arrived?
She seems to have grown up never the less and like you, I welcome the ambitious side to her - seemingly not on a whim but somebody who wants to better themselves in life.
However, for now, it might be better for her to work with David, although I do sense a potential love-triangle for xmas.....

Indeed, Kylie was charmed that Nick had enough confidence in her to offer her a job. Although Kylie seemed narrow and empty at first, this was only because she had been misunderstood for most of her life.
Now that Kylie is out from under skanky Becky's shadow she is showing a much more mature side. I'm glad she wants to better herself and get on in life. David is just trying to keep her under his thumb, controlling her. I can't see them staying together in the really long term tbh.

It's obvious that Kylie is not content with her life. She wants to better herself but David isn't being supportive. He's being negative and acting like he doesn't believe in his wife or want her to do well, which is shame because he's the one person who encouraged Kylie to get Max back and made her believe she could be a good mother.
