2012 dashboard update
Staggered roll out of the new Dashboard is starting now. Everyone should have it within 2 weeks.
Smartglass will launch on 26th October. (There were elements of this available in the beta, so we may get limited functionality before then) http://majornelson.com/2012/10/15/ne...ing-out-today/ |

Though I look forward to these updates, to me this one feels evolutionary, not revolutionary. It's improvement and tweaking of the old.
None of the new features grab my attention which is a shame. I will check out Smart Glass when it arrives, but I am not setting my hopes too high. |

I just preferred the old blade system when the system was launched.

I am/was in the dashboard beta it wasn't anything that stood out to me if im honest, IE i wouldn't use as i have a laptop or my iPhone for that side of things.
If anything i was expecting more from it. |

I agree I'm 26 and it does nothing for the gaming experience, I would like a choice to hide the avatar.

C'mon guys it's just a bit of fun, it IS a games console right?? Avatars are mostly pointless but they are quite fun in the games that feature them. I dread to think what you guys would think of the Wii U front end.

I got it today. Biggest difference is the addition of Internet Explorer and Xbox Music. I was actually pleasantly surprised by how smooth IE is. They've spent time adapting it for the Xbox and it is fast and intuitive for a console. I've always seen browsers on games consoles to be horrible, clunky things.
Xbox Music looks good, had a quick browse. It's a lot like Spotify but there are music videos as well. It is £80 odd a year but there is a free 30 day trial to try it out. Apart from that I liked how the Games tab started recommending games to me based on what I already play and search for. It said it had recommended Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge because I showed an interest in Fifa 12 and 13. Overall, I'm happy. |

I've not done anything to or even looked at my avatar since the day we initially needed to create one.
Regarding the dash update, I was in the beta & as has been said already its really just a tweaking of the initial metro design. I found it a bit faster/smoother in scrolling & the games tab has been moved closer to home. Still can't stand this layout/design though. |

Should still be in beta IMO
Pinned websites wont launch for me. Freezing whilst navigating the dash. Some other minor issues

Anybody else's Xbox freezing on the dash? This has only started since the preview menu disappeared from the dashboard. Really starting to annoy now.

I'm still on the Beta but I've not had any freezing or any of the issues you mention. If there is a problem I'm sure it will be sorted soon enough.

Never had any problems while I was using the BETA. |

As long as they don't hide the "play game on disc" I don't care what they do - this is the only dashboard button I use nowadays. |

I see a lot of people moaning about ads - but on the main screen there's only 1! What's the big issue?
