Has anybody actually got a New Humax Freesat+ HDR 1000S yet? I have had mine on order now for over a month with Currys. They keep putting the delivery on hold.

Power Direct seems to be the big name on Google shopping who are doing the cheapest deal - £240 plus £6 postage, why would anyone pay Humax's price?

Have they got any in stock ?. If so will they deliver next day ?

The fact thay they say available to pre-order kind of answers the question.

Perhaps because some say Humax will deliver?
Who are they?

Power Direct are ex Empire Direct; don't have the best of reputations and aren't guaranteed stock thanks to Humax's new distribution policy. Probably best to ask them first, especially as their website still states delivery 1st week of October!!!

No one will have one yet (other than test mules maybe), stock only landed today and so maybe a few will get theirs tomorrow, but more likely Thu/Fri for most.

Still waiting on a review box; you'd have hoped these would have been available prior to launch (with the exception of the launch morning which was semi-hands on!).

Joinfreesat are reporting this unit has a restricted distribution policy forcing sales to be at full RRP - http://www.joinfreesat.co.uk/humax-r...free-time-box/

I am really angry about this, surely this has to be a case of price fixing? The OFT should be all over this if it is true.

It doesn't imply that. Humax simply want to go a certain direction with retailers, which just so happen to be retailers that are more likely to maintain a rrp initially to gain decent profit margins whilst the product is sought after. It is understandable that they want to protect their brand, but maybe their new agreement is a little too guarded. They tried it with the Freeview T2 box but cancelled it in the end; whether that was because it simply didn't work, or because the initial launch period was over and they wanted the masses to stock, who knows! Hopefully an agreement will be made with the retailers that 'deserve' to stock it.

Just a basic question,---
What the new one supposed to do different or better, than the earlier one?

I have heard from retailers of big-brand TVs that if they undersell initially much below RRP they get their supplies cut off. I have also seen a rep from a major PC/printer manufacturer doing price-checks in-store. So it is an industry wide problem - they want exclusivity and until someone challenges them they will get away with it.

The same here. I think I had best get my work finished tonight so I can put the new dish up in the morning...

Got 2 dishes up already from the past:
1. Old non digital sky dish 19.2 degs?
2. Old lodger's sky dish 28.2 degs when I rented the house 12 years ago (single LNB) - works fine on TV.

Decided to fit the whole shabang to save any hassle in the future. SHMBO gave the spend go-ahead so I best get it working ASAP!

With my new Samsung smart TV too I could be OD'ing on HD, BBC iPlayer, Love Film etc etc

Right... best finish that report....

I am going to give it a week, see what happens with stock availability as there are quite a few places online who are offering below RRP but have no stock, then if none of these places get stock I am going to register a complaint with OFT. This is clear cut anti competitive action and as far as I can tell is prohibited, Humax have surprised me on this as such a large manufacturer ready to break a well established law if they are doing this on purpose.

You can complain about Apple and their similar policy at the same time and save yourself some postage.

Apple have been doing it for years (decades?) and the OFT don't have a problem with it. Maybe all the people working there and everyone else in the country have missed something that you've spotted though.

I have a feeling you'll be disappointed.

I don't know enough about Apple's position in the market to comment on that. I am not aware they are witholding stock from retailers who are requesting it though which is where they would be breaking the law (Article 101 of EU competition treaty is the overarching document). Comments suggest this is what Humax are doing but let's give it a few days and see what happens.

That's for home delivery, said reserve and collect not available so I assume they haven't reached stores as yet. Will have a look at lunchtime

Yeah maybe, It says reserve and collect not available - please check instore, which possibly means not all stores will have stock today.
