..................It just would have been nice if Humax had adopted the Manhatten method of tagging them onto a favourites list though. That would have made the Humax the absolute complete box for all my viewing needs.
From a previous post I understand that the UI is designed by freesat - who are not a big fan of non freesat.

Hmmm, yes. What a shame.

Looks like I'll be hanging onto my old Foxsat and the custom firmware for now then.

Power Direct are reporting they have shipped some units but are now out of stock, more stock due second week in November. I am hanging on until they have more as it's only £240 from them plus £6 postage.

But due to the new Humax selling policy, discount prices are not allowed,so strange for Power Direct to claim otherwise.

Humax can't prevent discounted prices, just restrict the distribution to retailers most likely to offer the lowest prices due to being 'online only'. Interesting that Power Direct have appeared from no where and seem to be the only one offering a low price; they have a bad reputation though so will be interesting to know who ordered from them and when the product arrived. Power Direct have stores in the north so no doubt comply with the new Humax policy on the service requirements, even if like other major retailers, the sales staff probably have no idea about the product and what it does.

Was in town last night so decided to drop in on Currys and ask if they had the new Humax freesat freetime box in stock; the guy said he had never heard of it and asked the manager who said I must mean youview!!! This seems to be the service level Humax are going to get with this policy!!!!

Appears to be instock for collection at Currys/PC world Leeds (Birstall) which is the nearest store to me with stock but unfortunately a bit too far to go right now. Suspect a lot more stores will show availability from Monday

Hi, can anyone advise if it possible to add non freesat channels to EPG or if it is easier to access say Sky News than on previous Foxsat HDR

Read back the last page and you'll see I already asked that question, and the answer is no you can't.

Also it seems you can't backup recorded programmes to a PC either, which is a bit of a deal breaker for me, so I'm sticking with the Foxsat for now.

BTW, on the Foxsat HDR you could easily add non freesat channels to the EPG using the custom firmware.

No programme info available, but it's much easier than switching into non freesat mode all the time, and you can also set a manual timer record too.

From what Bobcat said earlier in the thread things have been tightened up quite a lot with the G2 boxes, and it seems to be far more like Sky's closed system now.

So has anyone found this clipping recordings at all? Seems to be quite a big issue on Youview boxes with recordings finishing early, I'd be interested to know what it's like on this and how this handles schedule changes, does it use an accurate recording system like youview is supposed to do (and that seemingly isn't doing a very good job!).

It's early days but so far no problems. It uses the same AR system as the G1 boxes afaik. Which of course is going to rely on the broadcaster getting the codeing right and signalling the change of running status at the right times.

This is where I'm a bit confused, I would have assumed that AR system is the same one freeview uses so why would it be ok on Freesat but not on Freeview?

The freeview (and freesat G1) padding option cancels the accurate record option.. I have not spotted this (yet anyway) on this G2 box.
To me this is freesat telling the broacdcasters that from now everyone will notice if you screw up.

Not all broadcasters transmit AR signals on all platforms. A prime example is Channel 4 who still don't on Freesat despite telling me they were going to do so by "early 2012" but apparently do use AR on other platforms.

^ that will be you then, Channel 4

Power direct are shipping. I ordered on Sunday, delivered today.

Still covered bny Humax 2 year warranty, so should make no difference.

Delivered for £247, not bad in my book!

I have still not got mine even though I ordered it online from Currys on sept 9th. I'm strongly inclined to cancel and order the 1 TB version elsewhere!

I have just placed an order for mine also with Humax direct. I have also ordered Powerline adaptors as the price is good if ordered with a PVR. If the Currys order turns up I will just take it back to my local Currys Store.

I have just cancelled the Currys order. It was still not down for delivery even though they have stock in my local store. No apology. They had taken the money from my credit card on September 8th. Talk about lousy service.

Roll on Monday for my Humax Direct order!

John Lewis service...
On Friday JL quoted 5 to 6 days delivery, so the following day I cancelled and ordered the 1TB from Humax. That same day the JL m/c arrived (Eh! They said 5-6 days not one!). Phoned them and got a RMA number for return, they told me collect Tuesday, then followed up with an email saying Monday. Emailed them and they apologised and said definitely Tuesday. Guy turned up Monday to collect. Still waiting for credit back to my CC.

HumaxDirect service...
Phoned me to apologise for 1 day delay in receiving stock. Phoned again when stock arrived to agree delivery day.

No more business for JL.

Plus in the settings bit mine is showing no signal on one of the cables, but it def showed both when I set it up yday, and its allowing me to record 2 progs at once, so I'm assuming that's wrong?!

Yeah, John Lewis, what rubbish service! They deliver your box at the earliest opportunity and pick it up earlier too!

God! I'm surprised you didn't sue them!
