Yeah, John Lewis, what rubbish service! They deliver your box at the earliest opportunity and pick it up earlier too! God! I'm surprised you didn't sue them!

I am so impressed!
Mine delivered today from Humax Direct with a set of homeplugs at a special price if ordered with the HDR. Having cancelled an order I had with Currys due to non delivery I am so impressed with Humax Direct. I ordered on Friday last and it was delivered today Monday. I was kept informed at all stages by email and text. I was even given the one hour slot for my delivery.
![]() I have set up the HDR and it is a dream. A huge improvement on the Foxsat HDR. Just about everything is so much better but the biggest improvement is in picture quality. The homeplugs were just plugged in and connected straight away without any further configuring. ![]() The icing on the cake was when I checked the Logitech Harmony site In was able to set up my Harmony One with the precise Humax model. ![]() One happy bunny here tonight!

My girlfriend and I have sat in all day after ordering one online from Curry's only now to be told that the product won't be delivered now as it's not in stock. They took her money from her account for a product they didn't have and they have now told her that it will take 3-5 working days to refund her account. Isn't it illegal to take money from an account if the product is not in stock?
How much interest do these people make on the money if you multiply this by however many people have been sold products that do not exist. Isn't this fraud? |

Personally I'm still not 100% convinced yet by my new HDR1000s. I think people who have not already had say a HDR G1 for some time IOW new buyers will likely be more impressed by the new model. Like a few others I still prefer the older metal case design, which seemed to shout out quality, don't get me wrong the new case is good quality plastic but simply doesn't look so good, though I'm sure others may like it. (Certainly cheaper to manufacture I'm sure, but not a deal breaker) Also, though the picture quality is without doubt as good as the older model it replaces I would'nt say the new one was that improved to instantly be noticable, tho I should add that my OH thinks the picture is better that Sky's HD box so that's okay then..lol (wait until she realises she's lost her FX channels )I do like the EPG, it is a definate improvement, though in an attempt to make it more user friendly and graphically attractive some things now need multiple clicks. Though I'm sure I'll warm to it once I get used to everything ![]() My first impressions between the 2 models are not so definitive, some things the original model had are not implemented on the new model... being sacrificed to enable a simple easy experience for the user. Hopefully future updates will bring back some of the features I liked on the older HDR G1,(quick sorting for one) in some ways it was faster to get or do what you wanted on the older model even though it's menu's looked less attractive visually... but thats just me..lol TBH I suppose it's because it's such a dramatic difference. ![]() One things for sure, it's certainly a very quiet unit (silent) and the pic quality is impressive (so was the older model) unless I'm missing something it's not so easy to quickly sort channels, but I'm sure these things will improve as future firmwares are released. One thing is sure, this model has been designed to appeal more to the generic joe public, simple to use, attractive menu's ect. and I'm sure it will be popular, I'm definately keeping it, but may take me a few days to get fully used to it.

As I understand things the G1 unit was a Humax designed unit and in the main functional areas of G2, it is now a freesat design that will be copied on all brands of freesat STB's
Don't mis-understand me there are some things I like, such as the way it offers to record the program in HD if the selection is also available on HD. I'm warming to it slowly. ![]() Pity Humax didn't use a Red colour in the front display for the record icon, tho the old Humax HDR was white too, red would have stood out better. |

Probably take a little time to ship them out to all the retailers. |

Getting to like the HDR1000s a little more
Well my pessimist nature is weakening a little, and as I'm getting to find my way around this new Humax I am starting to like it more, so much so I may even overlook the plastic case it's in.
![]() I 've already found the 2hr buffer really useful when the son kept me talking on the phone for halfhour so a thumbs up for that feature from me. The tuner sensitivity seems quite good too, as we have a large tree in the neighbours garden directly in line of our satelite dish which affects our sat signal. In fact we could never get a stable picture with the standard Sky dish and had a 65cm dish fitted instead, but we still suffered the odd dropout with signals rarely above 70% on our sky HD box, this Humax is showing levels of 92% and of course no issues at all even tho its raining heavy, so things looking up. ![]() Did I say the pic quality is pretty good too.. yes.. okay I admit on reflection after watching a few hours it may just be a touch better than my older Humax.....but only slightly.

They took my money and never delivered even though I could have gone to my local Currys and picked one up. In a way I'm just as pleased because it gave me time to reflect and I eventually cancelled and went for Humax Direct for the larger HDD. My money was refunded by Currys today.

Box finally turned up
Well my girlfirend's box turned up from Curry's. I've told her to take 3-5 working days to repay the money if Curry's actually refunded her after all that's what they said they were going to do
![]() As for the box, it's fantastic. She has been used to Sky and was amazed at how clear and balanced the picture was. Despite having Sky + she absolutely loves all of the features this box brings. The big positive for me was how easy it was to set up
