NEW YORK (AP) — All the single ladies will be watching the upcoming Super Bowl along with football lovers. That's because Beyonce is the halftime show performer.

A source familiar with Super Bowl XLVII told The Associated Press the Grammy-winning diva will take the stage at the halftime show on Feb. 3, 2013, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. The source spoke on condition of anonymity because that person wasn't authorized to publicly reveal the information.

The official announcement is expected Wednesday, the source said.

Beyonce, whose pop and R&B hits include "Crazy in Love," ''Irreplaceable" and "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)," has won 16 Grammy Awards. The 31-year-old sang the national anthem at Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004 in her hometown of Houston when the New England Patriots defeated the Carolina Panthers.

Madonna performed at halftime at this year's Super Bowl in February with guests CeeLo Green, Nicki Minaj, LMFAO and M.I.A. The New York Giants beat the New England Patriots in a thrilling rematch of the contest four years earlier. Her performance was seen by 114 million people, a higher average than the game itself, which was seen by an estimated 111.3 million people, according to the Nielsen Co.

If Beyonce's performance at the Pepsi NFL Halftime Show features collaborations, it could likely include husband-rapper Jay-Z and her Destiny's Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

New Orleans last hosted a Super Bowl in 2002, making next year's game the first NFL championship in the city since Hurricane Katrina devastated parts of the Louisiana Superdome in 2005. Pepsi is returning as the sponsor for the halftime show since doing so in 2007 when Prince performed.

So here for this. Beyonce will slay.

Ditto Master Ozzy. If you've seen Revel, you know what is to come. She's on another level completely. Also the Grammys are a month before and she'll be on that new album hype...She better get back to Dangerously in love sales tbqh
I cannot wait. THIS I will be sitting up all night for.

I would die with happiness if she did a DC3 reunion.

I don't think she'll perform with Destiny's Child. I also don't think her new material will be out by then. I reckon she'll perform a few of her hits, but she'll completely re-choreograph all the routines, add in breakdowns etc, maybe bring on Jay-Z. Whatever she does, it will be epic.

I'm sure she'll squeeze in a Destiny's Child moment. Not sure she'll bring on Kelly and Michelle, but I imagine she will if it's feasible. Same with Jay.

Her performances are so slick and on point that no matter what, she'll bring down the house.

Ah this should be grand indeed, Beyonce really knows how to put on a SHOW!!

It would be nice if Kelly and Michelle came out and sung one song with her, perhaps Survivor?

This will be epic! I hope she changes up her routines and little and gives us some new versions of her songs! I doubt she'll have new material out by then but who knows? Would love a DC reunion of some kind - they have a CD out soon (not of new material though) so it could happen, and a Jay-Z appearance is a given.
It would be beyond awesome if Gaga came on to do a VideoPhone/Telephone mash-up but I guess she doesn't have a lot of time and has songs that she'd do ahead of those... cos let's face it VP is not her best by any means!!

I just gasped out loud at the thought of this happening!

What better stage than the Superbowl, they could recreate the Bug a Boo video in the biggest American Football stadium stage in the world!

This is going to be epic, with or without DC, Madonna's show was a spectacle, I think Beyoncé could possibly outdo it! She'll definitely out perform, but imagine the budget they'll have to put on the full show!

Awesome news!

Beyonce will easily outdo Madonna. For a start, Beyonce wouldn't dare mime.

Ahhhhh! I am insanely excited for this! I love Beyoncé and think she's a phenomenal performer, she gets so much better with age. The Revel shows were incredible...if she can raise her game from that standard then she'll put on one damn great show! If she drops a new album campaign for the Superbowl it would be incredible promotion too.

Legend

Fitting way to follow The Queen of POP MADONNA. Madge herself would be proud a performer like Bey follows her.

I like some of Beyonce's music but I have to agree. I've seen quite a few performances where she only sings a couple of lines from the song and focuses on the dancing and crowd interaction. Crowd interaction isn't a bad thing but I wish she'd sing more of the song.

Yes. Beyonce hasn't mimed since the early days of Destiny's Child. I love Michael and Janet, but there's no excuse for miming. If you can't sing your own songs, then don't perform them. If the dance routine is too heavy for the artist, then they should tone down the choreography so that they can sing. No matter how big a star you are, there's no excuse for miming.

Beyonce has just confirmed it on her website with a picture

http://www.beyonce.com/news/countdown-to-touchdown

I have no doubt she will deliver especially after seeing The Revel concerts this years which in many people opinions is the best concert she has ever done. Insane budget was spent on that.

Madonnas show this year was earth shattering (or should that be earth swallowing?) brilliance...hands down THE best Halftime Show ever (Prince just behind IMO with his flames!)

And you know I am not a massive Beyonce fan...i do really dig her album 4 though and her glasto last year was brilliant...so i am sure she will put on a great show...Madonna has brought Pop back into action again

Also what a way to kinda showcase a baton passing too....like Madonna is the last of the legendary Pop/Music/Culture phenomenons....but Beyonce represents that new-millenium Pop star (Britney, Christina, Justin/N Sync etc) so yeah...best of luck to her

I just hope it's more like when Black Eyed Peas played the Superbowl rather than when Madonna did.

When Black Eyed Peas were playing, UK Gold were showing the Comic Strip's brilliant 'Mr Jolly Lives Next Door' right from the end of the second quarter until kick off in the second half. As far as I remember there wasn't anything good on when Madonna was playing, I think I just ended up watching some old episodes of South Park on Sky+.

I suppose this year I should make sure I've got my Comic Strip box set handy just in case there's nothing good on.
