I think somebody needs to remind the public what the show title is X FACTOR.

Steve is an ok singer but has the personality of a dishcloth and does not have the X factor.

He is as middle of the road as you can get ok looks, voice, style and so on but nothing sets him apart from the rest of the chart.

maybe so....but if you let the public vote you have to live with their decision - whether you like it or not. I actually agree with you - except the dishcloth analogy - he does not have the elusive X Factor.

I do think he was the most consistent throughout the series.

Steve won get over yourself. Why can't people just accept that the better act won. Sharon helped him but he would have won anyway. He has the bigger fan base, hence never being in the bottom two and he so deserves his win so don't be so bitter.

I Agree!! The public voted against the bitch, not the person on the night!

the problem is, and i've seen it before, that a forum is not always representative of wider public opinion, even with five thousand members, that's still not enough to form a voting majority. so people in here, bolstered by the devotion of the faithful believe they had the right to win, i can honestly say that if g4 had won tonight, i would not stand by and let steve fans say it was fixed. because i realise that not everybody thinks just like me, it's a difficult concept for some people to register.

I'm still not entirely sure how Steve got into the final three......he can sing, yes but there were other singers with more of an X Factor then him.

I think Simon and Sharon both missed out on a couple of potential winners by getting the final 3 wrong

Sharon definitely missed out when she put through Roberta over Andy Steed. He had an amazing voice. But her loss.

What is x-factor to one person may not be to another steve has always stood out to me and does have the x-factor but then it would be a strange world if we all liked the same and bought the same cd's

Hi bananaman. Funnily enough, I was reading some of your thoughts from the time of the PI1 final only this evening - I was comparing tonight's conspiracy theories with FE's gems of nearly 3 years' ago.

I didn't agree with your opinion of Will then, but you've hit the nail on the head regarding Steve IMO. I don't think anyone in the final 10 had anything approaching the X Factor.

You can't state Steve was the better act, that is your opinion and you can't say he would have won without Sharon's help because as many people have admitted on here they voted 10 times as much as they otherwise would have. We don't know which act was voted for by most INDIVIDUALS and never will.

But anyways I wish Steve the best of luck I'm glad he got a break nice to see one of the older contestants win
Though I wish it had been Lloyd (nice to see him in the gospel choir)

what does steve have that other romcom soundtrack singers dont have? there are dozens of singers out there already doing his thing (could say hundreds if I include the cruise ship lot aswell)... what gives him the x-factor over them? nothing as far as i can see.

If these cruise ship entertainers you speak of had entered the contest and lost to him you might have an argument there.

I agree - me & my boyfriend were talking tonight - the people who have The X Factor - in my opinion, people like Madonna, Kylie, Elton John, Robbie Williams - may not be the greatest singers or dancers but they have an undeniable charisma and are all great 'performers' - the only person who came close to that on this show was Tabby - yes, he couldn't sing in tune but he was a charamatic performer - but still a long way off what I think they were really looking for - not once in ten weeks did I say 'wow' - I watched Will's last ten performances last weekend, for the first time in ages, and three years on, the hairs on the back of my neck still stand on end

i can feel a hearsay/liberty x coming on.
steves days are numbered, G4 can take it easy for a few months and then WHAM!!
G4 are gonna have a career, rather than 15 minutes fame.

So you're saying that Sharon doen't have the X Factor, so people voted agaisnst her...????

G4 lost for the exact same reason that Roberta was kicked off on the first week.

And Roxanne was kicked off Pop Idol early on last year.

And so on.

It's not because people are wrong, or stupid. It's because the voters are biased. They're biased by the fact that they are bothered to call in, which makes them different to the rest of the people watching.

It's a bit like if you do a phone in vote on the question: "Are phone in votes worth while?" you'll probably find that the answer is a resounding: YES! But that doesn't mean most of the viewers agree.

I don't think it really matters that Steve doesn't have the X Factor. Will Young is probably the only person to emerge from a UK talent show who really has it.

Looking at other popular acts around - I also think Busted, Brian/Bryan McFadden, Westlife, Britney Spears etc. are utter crap but they have a solid enough fanbase.

I honestly can't see Steve having a long and successful career as he's too old to appeal to the teenies, too bland and average to attract anybody who doesn't watch the show religiously like we do and really nothing special and original that is really lacking from the charts. But he'll enjoy his five minutes and I wont begrudge him that! I bet Tabby is the one who comes out of the programme the best - 3rd placed people often seem to do well (Lemar, Darius ...)

I love Steve's voice and will buy his album. I thought the Jackie Wilson track was by far the best and suited his voice and style. However, I have to take your point that hardly anyone on the X factor gave me tingles this time; and yes no-one came close to Will and the effect he had on people. I think there were one or two that had the potential to, but they slipped the net and we shall never know. Off Topic, when you say you saw Will's last 10 performances - oooh I'd LOVE to see Will's Pop Idol performances again and the audiences and judges reactions - is there a video with them on?

Where is the X-Factor?

Probably hidden away with the words to his "winning" performance.

I think that Steve is a worthy winner - he's been consistent throughout the comp.

Steve obviously appeals to a majority of people more than G4 (classical) and Tabby (rocker). He will appeal over a good age range and women will like him.

I dunno why people think it's so strange that Steve won?

I do think that Simon could have had Steve win with more credit - I think that Steve has been sold as a crooner when IMO, he should have been doing far more of the Higher and Higher type funky stuff throughout the comp.

I thought Steve was nervous on some nights, but pulled it off. I'd like to hear Steve's view on the song choices. I think that they could have been better.

I agree with criticonabike, the voter demographic is false,in REAL terms.
The reason I say this is because the voters are SO polarised, they vote for VERY intense reasons, hate, love, perceived slights, etc etc.NEVER purely on preference.
My own personal preference as I'm sure you ALL know by now,was ROWETTA!!!(still IS always will be!)IMHO she had the X in X Factor in spades, and she always divided opinion into either the LOVE or HATE catagories, very few if any were "indifferent" to Rowetta.
The finalists from XF last night were both(again,IMO)from the school of "Who Cares?"neither will IMO have lasting careers, and probably for entirely different reasons too.
Stevo is going to get bogged down churning out Syco BMG dirges #1 first single #21 second single, etc,,and Il Divo-lite are already cursed with having possibly the WORST potential manager EVER,then add to that the FACT they just do covers of standards in a "niche" market,so,where's the beef,as they say?
Cowell is already thinking/planning world dom for TXF product,I reckon Stevo will get "farmed out" to a faceless Cowell underling and be back at The Dog and Duck in 4-6 months.
Harsh? possibly.....but please feel free to quote me,if I'm wrong about either finalists future.
