Eastenders: Should Syed have been killed off?
Some people seem to think that instead of both Christian and Syed leaving Eastenders, Syed should have been killed off and Christian stays. I think this would have been a great storyline, Syed dies and then the Masood's and Christian struggle with their grief, especially Masood and Zainab - who feel guilty for the way they treated Syed when he came out as gay. Also, with the actor who plays Syed not wanting to be typecast, I wouldn't be surprised if this is the last we ever see of him.
What do you think? |

If it meant Christian could stay without being ditched at the alter then yes. Would have been very depressing though and I prefer a happy Christian. Would have been interesting to see the masood's adopt Christian in the aftermath though.

To be honest I was a bit bored of both Christian and Syed. Mainly because the writers haven't done that much with them for quite a while now.
I think it'll do both characters good to leave. Christian could always return at some point without Syed, but for now I think both leaving was the right decision. |

No. I dont care enough about him to watch people grieve for him to be honest. He has been largely redundant this year and its better Chryed move on then he dies and Christian hangs about, I dount Christian would stay in Walford after that anyway, not like he really has any other tie except sometime bff roxy.

I do think both could return in several years once Yasmin is old enough to be a character in her own right, maybe with an adopted child in tow, this would make them a proper family unit and give them family-related issues like every other on the show. But of course, getting Marc AND John back on the show would be difficult. |

Syed would be more likely to return because of his family ( with or without Christian ) and whether you like him or hate him, he's arguably a better character than Shabnam, who even some producers admited to not missing after she left. Her relationship with the family was the least complex of the lot, even if it made her more likeable.

No I want them both to have that happy ending.
With both leaving, I really don't see the point in killing one of them off. If Marc was just leaving and Christian staying, then yes, but I do think the most fitting exit for the pair is to see them get leave for a new life together. I really do like Christian as a character but even with his fun flamboyant and carefree persona, I don't trust the showrunners not to screw the character over or give him inadequate screen time. As much as I'll miss both Christian and Syed, it is the right time for them to go, and for them to leave together. |

Well its very unlikely hes going to return anyway judging by his recent comments .
Marc Elliott seems a decent chap but I personally hated his character . Morally lower than a snake ! |

I think Syed dying would have been a terrible ending and not just because I love the character. EE can be so bloody depressing, always recycling the same storylines that him dying, leaving christian and the Massoods a grieving mess would have been awful in the run up to Christmas. For once a happy ending is needed...if EE are capable of that.
