Nadine Coyle - Where did it all go wrong?
Now I'm not a big Girls Aloud fan. However I do like Nadine and the majority seem to agree that she has the best vocals in the group, so where did it all go wrong for her solo career?

I think there was somehow this 'rivalry' real or not that was given a lot of press between her and Cheryl and perhaps only one member from a band can be successful at one time? Who knows... Cheryl was also lucky with having the X Factor as a launch pad and huge public interest in her personal life.. Nadine didn't have these things. It's a shame because she has a great voice!

She's the best singer from the lot and she flung it all away by releasing utter pap.
The album being "exclusive" to Tesco didn't exactly help either. |

It really annoys me how Cheryl got all the success with X Factor. I really wish Nadine had got on the show instead as now Girls Aloud are reuniting it seems like it'll be the Cheryl show. Nadines material might have been a part of the problem as well, well, for me. I think it lacked the wow factor, except for 'rumours' that was a great track with great lyrics. I really after this reunion Nadine comes out on top and has a great solo career with a proper record label backing.

1. Rivalry with Cheryl, at her peak no less.
2. Tesco exclusive 3. Not the best debut single. IMO she should give it another go. Cheryl is no longer the people's princess, don't make any silly exclusive deals and put out a strong single. |

nadine wouldn't have got the x factor, she didn't put herself out there enough like the others. simon saw the potential in cheryl following a meeting while she was taking part in the `celebrity apprentice`. its a classic case of one opportunity leading to another and nadine didn't see the value in the other media projects the girls took part in.

Nadine has never wanted to be a 'celebrity', that's why she always shied away from the things like 'Passions', 'Ghosthunting with' etc. I don't think it really bothers her that much that she never had massive sales of her album, it strikes me that she would rather have produced an album that she was proud of than had one that went multi-platinum. I don't think the album would have cost alot to produce given she did alot of the writing herself and the Tesco deal everyone slags off is reported to have paid her £1m.

Awful PR that has made her seem up herself and distant from the other girls. Appalling decisions for solo career such as the exclusivity deal.
Just badly managed, to be frank. |

Her publicity campaign was almost like a 'how not to market yourself' manual.
Nadine seems like quite a nice girl, but she really fuelled the Cheryl rivalry's fire, and I think cancelling all of her signings and meetings with fans when it was clear the album wasn't doing well didn't help things. Combine that with slightly dated, although still not bad, music and the Tesco-only thing and I would say that's where things went wrong. Insatiable was also a horrible choice for lead singe. |

She may be the best singer in GA but she isn't a great singer. She hasn't got enough charisma or personality and her voice isn't unique or distinctive imo.

Several points -

Getting her own management who were crap
Getting rid of the PR team Girls Aloud had since 2002, one of the best in the UK
Taking too long to release material, she became irrelevant
Rejecting a record deal with Polydor/Fascination, who then offered Cheryl the contract instead
Awful, dated material
Tesco exclusivity deal
Bad press
Some of her catty remarks about Girls Aloud
Her distance before GA even split. Not turning up to events, not doing promotional work etc
|

I agree with KieranDS. I am one of the 3,000 (?) who bought her album and I really wanted to like it, but I could only take to two songs.
She is the best singer in the group, but she has to decide if she wants to be a popstar or not. If she does, she has to play the game, not act as if it's all beneath her. I do really like Girls Aloud albums, and I kind of hope that Nadines solo album debacle, and the fact that Cheryls solo career is on the wane since she left X Factor means they can get back to their main career now! |

It didn't help that she spent so much time in America while Cheryl's rise to solo stardom was happening in the UK. |

I just don't think people are really interested in her away from Girls Aloud.
