I want to get Sky for my dad as a present.

I want to pay the Direct Debit subscription and the installation charges myself.

I tried him with a pre-pay Ondigital box a year ago but it could hardly pick up anything as he is in a valley. I think he would prefer Sky's channel line up more anyway.

The confusing bit is that he has to sign the agreements and that I already have Sky and so can't order another subsidised box. He lives 200 miles away from my house.

Sky's website is all geared up for the person who is ordering it also being the person getting it installed at their home. How the heck should I go about doing this?

As far as I know you'll need him to sign an interactive discount plus the 12 month contract.

There is two things you can do:

1) Pay for installation and everything else, but he'll pay the monthly subscription charges

2) Pay for the above, plus be billed for his subscription, i.e. on your credit card

Either way, you will need his concest as the property owner to have a dish installed... I hope that helps.....

You could also pay the DD by proxy. i.e. if he has a bank account you could still set up a DD from there and set up a standing order to his account from yours. So the money just gets channeled through his account and he will see no difference.

Make sense?

This means only his name is on the paperwork, there's no fiddling needed. All you do is pay your dad rather than Sky.

Thanks for that. I would prefer it if my dad didn't see how much this costs. He is a bit of a proud chap and wouldn't like to know that I am paying 20+ a month for him.

I imagine that I could get him to organise the installation and then pass me the forms to fill in for the DD info. I don't suppose they mind who's bank account the payments are coming out of.

It's a pity that there isn't a "Prepay Sky in a Box" like the ITV Digital deal - I'm sure the demand is there.

Couldn't you just fill in all the info on the website with his details except the DD which you put your bank account in.

I got Sky for my nan at christmas, all you need to do is phone Sky directly, give them the address of your dad, but give your bank account details for the payments. All he will need to do is sign on the dotted line and send it back to Sky all payments will be done by you. You may also want to set it up so that there is a password on the account so you can also change parts of the account, ie the package, or your dad will be the only person in charge of the money coming out of your bank every month.

Not a good idea. Think of all the pensioners! It'll be-

"All right dearest, I'll put up the dish...."

WHAM.

No thanx
