Emmerdaily 18/10/12 The King is Dead.
Spoilers rephrased from what there was on ITV.com, which wasn't much:
Part, the first:
Spoiler
Part, the second:
Spoiler
And that's all your lot. Sorry about the brevity. They obviously didn't want to give any clues in their spoilers. Anyway, keep this bumped up, if you would be so kind. See ya tomorrow! |

Thanks for the thread Gulfie
![]() I do think Emmerdale missed a trick with Carl's death. Chas and Cameron should have left at their respective times, each thinking that they had killed Carl. Then, in the very last scene, we should have seen that he was still moving, barely alive. A third unseen person should then had stepped in to deliver the fatal blow. The scripting team could have had a ball with that. They could have made it a double bluff and had Chas or Cameron coming back to finish the job off. Or they could have had Jimmy, Nicola, Rodney, Charity, Dan or any number of people ultimately turn out to be the culprit...... Scriptwriters ~ what a half baked job they've made of it!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

That's a brilliant idea RK, you should be writing for them....
![]() It's possible that Tom Lister (Carl) wanted to leave to do other things so presumably they were faced with either having him leave, giving him a head-swap or killing him off. Given that it's the 40th Anniversary you can't really blame the producer for choosing to kill him off. It is, after all, the most dramatic option. That being said, anyone with half a braincell must have known that the news about Carl's death could have leaked before the live episode. And, of course, it did. Some extra leaked news about filming a scene at Carl's funeral weeks ago which rather gave the game away. So, in essence, all the mystery has gone as anyone who keeps up with the show (except for most of the "Superfans" ) would already have known Carl was going to die.Tonight, we found out it was Cameron so the only "tension" left in the storyline is the question who gets arrested and whether, ultimately, Cameron gets away with it. Obviously, they've already filmed the aftermath with the body being discovered and the police investigation etc, but they could have added the "unseen killer" idea in at the last minute. It wouldn't have made any difference at all to what has already been filmed because the audience wouldn't have seen "whodunnit" anyway. So, each time someone who arrested or questioned the audience would have been wondering whether it was the "unseen killer" or not. Now, of course, we already know that Cameron's the culprit so, in a sense, it all feels a little flatter than it could have been. |
