Too soon. He was an integral part of Emmerdale. No other soap would touch him for many many years.

Maybe he was offered other ITV dramas ? That's usually the way with departing soap actors.

Not to be nasty as I do think ED has just as many talented ex cast members but usually only EE and Corrie stars get those kinda deals.

The thing is by going straight to another soap you can create a problem of the viewers only seeing him as Carl King and not the new character he's supposed to be playing!

And people still see Stella as Cindy Beale with a dodgy accent and that's ten years ago or so.

They should commission a British version of Dexter and ask him to play the lead role.

For you maybe. But soaps have massive audience crossover. No soap would pick up Tom Lister so soon after his demise in Emmerdale.

No chance he'll be seen in Corrie or any other soap; he'll be too busy doing Shakespeare for the next few years.

Tom is a brilliant actor - I'm sure there's a part for him in Downton Abbey if he wants it.

His next job is in pantomime and I hear he tweeted that he's doing a film next year, (I think he said filming in Eastern Europe iirc).

I think emmerdale needs to have a think about his plot lines and bring him back somehow - wasn't dirty den killed off and brought back I'm EE? (I don't watch it)

I don't think they'll be able to do this some how although I would love it if they did.

The follow up programme showed a few minutes of what we can expect for the aftermath of Carl's demise.

One scene in an upcoming episode appeared to show Jimmy identifying Carl's body on a slab at a police station morgue

Ok, we would still remember him as Carl King, but that's a plus point in his favour.......you remember the good ones!
I don't think it would cause a problem to have him in Corrie......I would def get used to him!

Phil needs help with his Manor in EE and anyway I think we need another Mitchell to, there is to many Brannings and others going on at the moment, so cue relative Tom Lister playing cousin Don Mitchell.
