Her reference to the 'losers' turning up at her reception was out of order. Her character has become totally unlikable in recent times. Once upon a time this was the girl who felt so sorry for Perdy being infertile that she had a baby for her. Why has she changed so much?. I know we are supposed to be on her side vs Megan but that cake scene was the highlight of the episode for me. On the live episode, chas was amazing as was Carl and Cameron. Superb acting.

Don't get me wrong I like the character but I don't like her looking down her nose at the 'losers'. Debbie is a good character though just needs to lighten up a bit.
Quite true to life though. I know of many people who airbrush their, more humble, origins from history once they get a bit of cash.
She was angry, she had tried to share the reception with Chaz and her mates but had it all thrown back in her face. She wasnt friends with lesbian couple or their kids so why should she have them crash her reception. The fact the lot of them werent thrown out on their azzs said more about her.

I agree,what an awful wedding day,and then the spongers turn up.
She might feel lacking in confidence and defensive because of Megan's attitude towards her and may fear the "trophy wife" and "goldigger" remarks might be voiced by others in the village behind her back - Declan's attitude doesn't always help as he can be distant at times. I'd be p'd off if a load of people I hardly knew turned up uninvited. - Her offer to Chas to share the reception was earlier thrown back in her face after all!
I think she has always been a bit like that even when she was with Andy years ago she was looking down on others thinking she was better than them .

If she hadn't cancelled the joint reception they'd all have been there. What's the big deal?
It looked like there were sod all people at her reception considering the size of the tent and those who were there could do with a bit of livening up.

I agree with this very much. She offered to share the reception with Chas, was flatly refused, and then Chas' friends and total strangers to her try and crash her party?
Also, her attitude with Megan is very understandable. This is the woman who backed her son after he abused Katie. Megan has been horrible to Katie 95% of the time, trying to ruin Katie's business, her relationship and actually everything about her life. Finally Katie is fighting back.
I'm loving the bitchy side to Katie! She can't win, people say she's boring (she's not) and then when she gets a bit of fire in her belly she's a bitch.
If Katie was a snob then she wouldn't even be friends with a chav like Chas, nevermind share her wedding reception with her.

Ah I think you're forgetting the rest of that story - how Katie was absolute bitch to Perdy, refusing to give her the baby because she had fallen in love with Perdy's husband.
Katie has always been a bit of a bitch. Remember how she threatened to have Daz put into care if he told anyone about her affair with Robert?
Katie really can't win. If shes nice to everyone shes labelled 'boring' and 'a meddler'. If she's feisty and finally stands up for herself (first time in ten years!) shes a 'snob' and a 'bitch'. I loved her last night, she came out with some cracking lines and Megan deserves all she gets for being a vile cow to her 99.9% of the time. While i don't want Katie to lose her nice girl edge i love that shes finally being given a backbone. As for the 'losers' remark, the Spencers are the village scroungers, you would be annoyed if they turned up at your wedding uninvited, i think some people just criticise Katie for the sake of it and will never be happy no matter what she says or does. Sammy Winward should take it as a compliment really because if she wasn't so beautiful then Katie really wouldn't get half the criticism she does.
The only disappointment was that Katie didn't shove Megan into the cake. Katie's beauty has nothing to do with how I feel about the character. I dislike her at the moment because she is looking down her nose at people which has nothing to do with her looks or her argument with Megan.

For me Katie, Declan, Megan and the small one are the weakest characters on the show they just seem really dull and boring there is nothing about them I'd find remotely appealing, they need a proper family like the Kings or Tates use to be the Maceys just ain't cutting it.

It was as sparse of guests as the 'festival' was of festivalgoers. Two really good larfs there, although the festival did have me LOL - 30 people in a field - we get more at our farm open day!

I am amazed at the apparent transformation of some people who come into money.I've seen this several times personally.
The way Megan has behaved she more than had it coming.
I've always found Katie bland beyond belief, but have loved her this week.
