You know, there is one thing we are ignoring. During the fight about whether or not to go off on honeymoon, Christian brought Danny up again and Syed was upset to feel that every time they have a quarrel, he would bring that up again. So, to tell Christian about the texts might make Syed worry that he is indeed bringing it up again, that Christian might be angry about it. Who knows?

Weak. And still lying. Has he told Christian he still owes him money. Has he told Christian that Danny has a 'thing' for him?

Not HONEST. And Christian knows, and Syed does nothing to reassure him. I don't think that Syed should expect Christian should be a total, noble SAINT.

I think this pattern of 'ignore it and it'll go away' is very in character and something that we have seen throughout his time on the square, so i can see why he would maybe apply this logic to Danny.

I'm not putting too much thought in understanding it tbh, it's all for plot driven nonsense.

It makes sense for Christian to be a bit wobbly, but if Syed tells him Danny is lying and Christian can't believe him, then I gues that's why Chryed are both wondering whether they should be together - it sets up a nice bit of angst on both sides - fingers crossed

Yes, you're right. That is a characteristic of Syed. He has some big faults. Can we love people despite their failings? Christian says yes. Until next week when he says no. And then after that, he maybe says yes, or maybe says no.

I'm guessing Chryed's 40 seconds tonight were meant to feel a bit on the stilted side, but even so, I'm thankful for the fact that Jesse Mahoney is not writing Chryed's final episodes.

If Danny is the elephant in the room, Christian's hair is the hamster in the room. Given the opportunity to banish just one, I'm not sure which I'd choose.


No doubt whatsoever that they're going to leave together, but are we going to be saying #vivachryed or #vivachryod at the end of their final episode?

At least it's reassuring to see that the spoilers are showing some consistency, with someone in the Chryed s/l taking matter into their own hands right up to the very end.

Nothing new, but my big concerns for the final three weeks:

1. Danny is telling Christian the truth. At this point I don't give a damn (well, maybe a bit of a damn) about the actual shagging, but if Syed bare-faced lied, easily and with no sign of guilt or remorse, it destroys them and taints everything which has gone before. Happily, the way the texts and reactions were set up for us tonight makes me more confident this is going to be an issue of mistrust and miscommunication rather than one of hideous and measured betrayal.

2. Christian is going to go all "why should I give up on my dreams" on us again. His reunion with Syed needs unambiguously to be because he can't live without Syed, and NOT because he can't bear to lose his chance of being a father to Yasmin. I can sniff another BF coming and even from this distance, it stinks.

3. Chryed's reunion and subsequent exit is going to feel rushed as all hell. I respect JP and Marc for caring enough to demand a say and for not wanting a downbeat final episode, but if they vetoed chunks of dialogue (presumably carefully constructed and included for a reason), was PL even given the time/ opportunity to rewrite them? If not we could well be looking at a final episode in which they feature as D-listers in their own s/l, and which jumps suddenly to Chryed reuniting without satisfactory, necessary discussion and resolution of their issues. I'm now fully expecting Christian to appear at the last moment as Syed's cab is about to set off, and we'll all be expected to rejoice and cry tears of happiness as he gets in alongside him and they drive off together. Sorry, but I'm not that easily pleased, or appeased. I just hope the script we've been left with has not been stripped of what is needed - including the painful stuff - to enable us to really, truly believe in them and their future together as they depart our screens for good.

Generally, this whole story has been s***e for me. If the worst of this story is that Christian can't believe Syed when he tells him that he didn't sleep with DTW, then I'm gonna think Chryed have got off lightly -- that's all

I am gutted that for all my hopes for Syed he is now represented as some confused, shilly shallying, hurtful, deceitful, foolish and pathetic, self serving, romantic, beautiful, FEMALE archetype.(And one that pisses me off mightily).

What a bloody shame.

He is a very pretty young man but dig deeper and he is a lying , thieving , cheating screwed up mess .

He is a good person at heart and which keeps me watching and what Christian loves but at the moment all the negatives outweigh that by the ton.

And you mention them 3 people but each one he has screwed over in one way or another.

Great post. Unfortunately, I fear for the worst. Christian will have the same hair, Syed as well (needs a trim!) and the question of whether or not any of us care about them any longer will linger. Some will think Christian better off without him. Some will think Syed would do better with Danny. What was once a beautiful love story is so tained, many of us may not care one way or another.

Revenge? Is this EE's revenge for their leaving? You cannot leave unsullied if you leave us at all! Why oh why could they not have been allowed to leave in love, dignified, together, hopeful. The next 3 weeks are going to be horrible and destructive. So any positive denouement will be reserved for the last, what, 2 minutes? If at all.

At this point, it is all set up to make us certain they will leave separately. And nothing at all is set up to make us perhaps even want them to go together, or to believe in them if they do.

I find it sort of amazing that you think that Syed is better off with Danny. Who is a manipulative, unpleasant flash wide boy with no real heart and no real respect for Syed.

I am trying to understand a storyline here. I like Syed precisely because he is complex, more than any other character, most of whom are just caricatures. He fascinates me, because he is so mercurial, so full of wonderful qualities and at the same time so many terrible qualities.

I would have prefered a life-threatening illness over this, with Syed telling Christian not to worry if he dies because they'll meet again in Heaven Christian doesn't believe in Heaven but he doesn't say anything because he doesn't want to hurt Syed. Just as Syed is on the verge of dying he makes an amazing recovery.

I didn't get the chance to write after the episode on Friday. It was for me very Biblical, the story of Isaac and Rebekkah and their sons Jacob and Esau. Isaac loved Esau and Rebekkah loved Jacob. Isaac = Masood. Rebekkah = Zainab.

Each choose and promoted a particular son. But because Rebekkah had to struggle to have a voice in a patriarchal culture, she resorted to deviousness, the weapon of the powerless woman.

Jacob was promoted, but lost his family in the process, and feared his brother. He was also a slippery character, the one hated and ignored by his father. But in the end, he grew into the person his mother saw, was loved by 4 women, and carried on the traditions.

Syed is a wonderful and terrible character, whom Christian, who is not stupid and not without experience, loves deeply. Syed will grow up and be his best self. In another world, none of this would have been necessary.

I don't find Syed more complex really, than most people. It's not that hard to understand him. It's just disappointing.

Mind you'll probably think I'm not sensitive enough to really 'get into' his mammoth complexity or something.

But I've massive experience of reading texts, and I've been around a long time and met many, many people who've had all sorts of problems.

He's well pretty though, and fascinating if you like that sort of thing I suppose.

He better get his act together, because all that 'weeping tender misunderstood, guilty, sad, ultimately self serving, dishonest and self indulgent shite' gets on my tits.

VF - your 3 points - I totaly agree. I'm worried for so many things regarding DTW and happy but relaistic resolved endings. Really just wish it was over so we KNOW everything we're ever going to see and can fill in the rest for ourselves.

To be fair, Christian wouldn't have fallen in love with Syed just for his looks, that would make him shallow. Syed does have good qualities, the producers just ignore them for the sake of drama. They like to press a character's negative buttons - Max is getting his button pushed at Christmas..
