Emmerdale is the 3rd rated soap
And on last nights performance will stay there for a long time
loads of shouting screaming and that was about it for me, had to watch it after all the fuss of will they wont they screen it, but Imo not a patch on either Corries (50th) or Eastenders (25) and come to think of it while we are at it the Bills 20th as well which was also live Intresting to hear Soap fans i work with and none realy care about Emmerdale Corrie & Eastenders will always be the 2 top rated soaps IMO |

Emmerdale is a million times better than eastenders, as is hollyoaks. Eastenders has been awful for about 2 years now

Try watching Corrie OP, people saying Emmerdale is worse than Corrie currently is utterly ridiculous have you seen the storly lines in it? lol
And it beats EE which is usually my prefered soap, l Iove Emmerdale at the moment |

I used to be Eastenders mad, now it's definitely Emmerdale, Corrie then Eastenders and I'm not that bothered if I miss Eastenders either. But that's just what I like.

No soap is particularly good right now, all struggling. Still the live episode from Emmerdale was the best out of the lot of them.

Is this thread little more than Eastenders fans trying to put Emmerdale down due how utterly amazing their live episode last night was, in comparison.

It's not always EE vs the other soaps you know. |

I enjoyed last night even though I'm not an avid watcher of it. I know all the characters and being a regular on here means I kind of know what's going on. I was gripped during the elder abuse story, though I do accept it was very out of character for Ashley.
I think Corrie's 50th was probably the best out of the live episodes but emmerdale was close behind

Not really sure how you can base your opinion on one episode. Watch some of the storylines from Blyth's era then tell me Emmerdale is the 3rd best soap.

EE used to be my fave hands down, but it's a deffinate poor 3rd these days.
Emmerdale is the only one I rarely miss these days. |

factually the op is correct, ee and corrie regularly trounce emmerdale in the ratings.
but for me emmerdale is the only soap worth watching atm, ive stuck with emmerdale for 30 years, i lost interest in ee about 5 years ago and corrie hasnt grabbed me since the 80's. im a huge fan, because im patient enough to ride the duller times knowing that better storylines will emerge. and emmerdales humour is fantastic. they drop one liners in here and there, if you are not paying attention you could miss them! emmerdale doesnt have to be edgy, why should that be a mark of greatness? but id suggest it has been edgy, jackson storyline, sarah sugdens, aarons coming out and for once dismissing the usual gay stereotype... the point is, i like most of the characters on emmerdale, i dont like those on ee or corrie. |

Corrie
Started watching this with my Late nan in 70s, didnt have much choice really there was only 1 tv in house, and got hooked on it for few years till about early 80s , in fact the last episode i saw was the death of Brian tilsley , which was editd out of the repeat showing on Sunday Didnt watch it again until, lthe tram crash and been watching it non stop ever since , think the storey lines are fantastic, and as for Michelle Keegan , thing i like about Corrie is it doesnt take itself too seriously and is funny as well, both me/mrs watch Corrie Eastenders Watched it from the very first epsiode in which Reg cox died right through really , although its got very chav, lately, it still not bad , probably not as good as the Den/angie years , or sharongate etc , but still like watching it Emmerdale must admiit sometimes think watching Casualty , , with all ex cas stars in it , but all it seems to me is load of Geordies screaming at eash other (my mate actually used different phrase ) but people who watch soaps that i know dont rate Emmerdale in the bracket of other two by a long Way, its mainly Corrie than EE

Corrie ties with Emmerdale for me and EE is a lowly 3rd. I used to love it but in all honesty it has been dire for years.
Imo if Emmerdale was on BBC1 in that time slot it would trounce EE. |

Imo if Emmerdale was on BBC1 in that time slot it would trounce EE. The acting was on the whole good, and there were no mistakes, the tension built up and the end was just how I thought it would be. Well done to all involved, bye bye Mr Carl, you horrible evil sexy man, you had to go eventually . |

It's still really good and I still really like it, but Blyth's era is hard to match. Factually, the OP is correct - Emmerdale is the third rated soap, but I really think it deserves so much more praise and recognition. |

I can't believe you're criticising Emmerdale with the "screaming and shouting" insult and putting it below Eastenders who pretty much has shouting as its trademark.
I don't know why you feel the need to get all up on your high horse. They're just soaps at the end of the day and are similar shows with the same plots over the years. The fact you feel the need to badmouth it on their anniversary episode is just silly. Eastenders and Corrie had their celebrations, let Emmerdale have theirs. |

Do you measure the episode by how many mistakes there were or the quality of the storytelling? For me it's the latter. Yes EE was more clearly live than the others but that was a plus for me, it was totally exhilarating to watch. |

It will always be that way its like the 3 political parties in this country someone always has to be 3rd but it doesn't mean any are better quality then others they all vary time to time, I don't particularly like the state ED or Corrie is in at moment but it doesn't mean it won't get better, EE goes through the same cycle great sometimes and dodgy the next.
But ED live episode was fantastic that's just my opinion but people who nitpick are just doing it for the sake of it. |

The Emmerdale live episode was great but it has recently been very boring and has been for a while, I prefer it over Coronation Street but not EastEnders or Hollyoaks.
