This is a new version starring Helena Bonham Carter. I couldn't find a thread for this.

I'm looking forward to seeing Helena as Miss Havisham.

Apparently some have seen it and the reviews haven't been good. I hope it's a good movie because I think Helena as Miss H is a perfect combo!

It is too soon after the Paltrow version. But perhaps they want to make one truer to the book for schoolchildren.

Too soon? 15 years ago? Not that soon.

Lookswise and demeanour, Holliday Granger is perfect casting for Estella. If she brings a little bit Lucrezia Borgias to the part she could be excellent.

A review in Empire Magazine said the problem with the film is it doesn't match anything that hasn't been done before.

I think there have been two many versions this classic Dicken's novel.

She was, but I felt they should've chosen an actor to play Pip that didn't look too 'posh'.

Dickens works so well on TV, film versions have a lot to compete with.

Anyone seen David Lean's version? That was amazing.

The BBC also did a version in the 1999 with Charlotte Rampling, Justine Waddell and Ioan Gruffudd. Did anyone see that?

Some are really slating Helena's performance as Miss Havisham whereas some are saying it was a role she was born to play. I always thought she'd be excellent in a role like this. I'll have to reserve judgement!

She's on 'The Graham Norton Show' tonight btw.
