Is it a good or bad thing that these two characters are currently my favourites in Emmerdale?

For years I couldn't stand them, I knew Debbie was a good actress when she is given the opportunity which isn't often, but the character has mostly grated on me and Katie, well Katie has just been a silly dumb girl for her entire stint and I haven't paid all that much attention to her. Now though, I love her being so snobby and bitchy, marrying money has done wonders for her.

Does anyone else feel the same or am I alone in changing my opinion on them?

Nope, I'd pretty much agree with all of that SH.

I've loved seeing Katie grow a backbone & start giving Megan a taste of her own - whilst I can't wait for Debbie to catch up with Chas.

Yeah, I want Katie and Declan to cancel their honeymoon and keep giving Megan and Robbie what for.

Also can't wait for Debbie tomorrow night, especially if she lets Cain know.

Ikm not having a go at the Op, but Isn't it a shame that Katie has to become bitchy for some to start liking her?
Isn't being a sweet, pleasant, friendly character good enough anymore?

That said. Though i've always liked Katie but never liked Debbie - just wish she'd cheer up a bit,
i do like the fact that we've been able to see the two of them grow from teens to mature adults, and Andy as well btw.

Yes, there are more 'colourful characters' in the show, but there's a lot to be said for longevity and slow growth of characters, and i think that's what's some of us are starting to see and appreciate.

Time has flown by, and they've been there 10 years + now, so it's nice to see them starting to get some positive comments around here.

Never liked Katie and dislike her more and more. She doesn't make a good bitch. She is coming over to me as a spoilt, spiteful brat who is way out of her league. I perhaps would have more tolerance of her if Sammy Winward was a stronger actress. She isn't a particularly bad actress but I do think she is no more than mediocre at best.

I like them both too. I think both as characters are good people in the core, loyal to their loved ones.

Debbie is not very cheery character usually, but the actress is really good IMO, and she does shine when needed, so I take her as a Downer as well

Katie is a nice person, kind, considerate. But she has grown tired of being walked over by Megan just because Katey has chosen to be considerate, polite and kind. So, I'm liking her standing up to Megan and Robbie.

yep, me too, i like them both, and for those knocking katies 'bitchiness' its only come around as a result of being baited by megan, she is not bitchy per se

I don't see her as being bitchy, but standing up to Megan. It's about time too. Katie tried to have Declan stand up for her, he many times didn't, so Katie found her own back bone as giving it back to Megan with full barrels. She really isn't bitchy to anyone else, except Megan and some random people trying to crash her wedding party.

I prefer Katie with a backbone and Debbie is a great character also
