What's your earliest soap memory?
What's the earliest soap scene you can remember watching? I can remember Deidre going into labour whilst working in the Cabin and strangely my most vivid memory of this was that she was wearing a long green cardigan at the time. I think they couldn't find Ray. I've just looked it up and this would have been June 1977 (I was 10 years old)..
In saying that its not beyond the realms of possibility that I dreamed the whole thing! |

No idea what my earliest soap memory is, but our mam was (& still is) mad for the soaps, so we were plonked in front of the Street from the off. I do remember Bet living in the flat above Alf's shop & coming down into the shop in her flimsy nightie, make-up & hair everywhere, saying ... "Give us a packet of my fags Alf love!" (& him & his customers not knowing where to look)

My first BIG episodes were Elsie Tanner setting her sofa on fire at the beginning of July 1980 - and (especially) Renee Roberts dying in the car crash at the end of 1980. But I remember being scared of Ena Sharples and loving Renee. Ena left in May so I reckon I was watching from 1979 at the age of 5. It was just these episodes that stuck in my mind.
Here I am 33 years later.... |

Tom dying in Home&Away, I think, but there's probably an earlier one from that, which I can't remember right now.

My first ever soap memory was Tiffany sitting in hospital after Grant supposedly pushed her down the stairs. (I can't remember if he actually did or not).

I remember home and away storyline I LOVED IT.
I think sally or something not sure got kidnapped, and it was in the woods in a cabin or so. And she was tied to this table. I remember seeing like a canoe boat in the scenes. Also, Remember home and away scene where she takes a drink of juice from a can and there is a bee in the can and she dies i forget the character, |

Brookside and Sheila's rape. I actually didn't even know what had happened as I would have been 6 or 7 but I remember it so clearly as she broke down in the bathroom.

I was born in 1960.....so I didn't really watch much soapy stuff untill I was about 12 years old.
My first memory is of Crossroads at 4.15pm every teatime when I got back from school (My mum was an avid fan!). I remember the first episode of Emmerdale Farm at 1.30 in the afternoon, General Hospital at 2pm (I must have been on school Hols - or doing a sickie!) I got hooked on afternoon soaps after that... there were many classic ITV soaps to follow, and then the Australian imports took over inthe 80's - Sons & Daughters, Young Doctors, A Country Practice, Young Ramsay, The Sullivans..... Gosh - I miss those days!! |

I remember Annie Walker being very annoyed with her husband Jack at the Rovers in Coronation Street, and Meg's husband trying to poison her in Crossroads.
