Right now, he's probably too busy trying but failing to salvage his American Z Factor. So nice to see all his manipulating 'talent' shows are sliding off his oily hands down the drain!!!

For me this is a bit of a mixed blessing.

that so many people are watching Strictly
that the producers will think the reason they are watching is props/funny VT's/ and more "entertainment" than dancing

and they probably are

I'm so glad for Strictly. The Z factor is utter tripe, to put it politely!

Am not surprised. X Factor is dreadful this year.

Hear, hear. I haven't seen any of it this year!

I expect Cowell was looking forward to gloating because he nicked Alesha and as it happens her departure has made no difference whatsoever!

I disagree with you there, ewoodie, I think her departure has made Strictly even better!

Thing is though, it would be easy for Strictly to be XF this year because the quality of singers on this year is quite low (to me anyway). So myabe that's why people aren't bothering to watch anymore, esp while certain acts are still in it.

I know Strictly did well before but I was under the understand that that was more in regard to particular weekends rather than as the series as a whole? Happy to be corrected if that is wrong and Strictly outdid XFactor in an overall sense.

Even the Sunday figures are good for Strictly. For the first time, more people on average are watching SCD result show. All those people who complained SCD result show will lose out to XF because XF result show is life. Well, what have you to say now?

You see, the advantage of Strictly is that when they murder what they do, they get away with it more because most of us don't know what it was supposed to be like in the first place...

Murder? You mean the dance?

The beauty of Strictly is that even if you know they murder the dance, it's not made to look like it's life and death, unlike the ZFactor. And Z Factor had too many IMPORTANT.LOUD.VOICEOVER.INTRODUCING.CONTESTANTS.LIKE.THEY.ARE.AMAZING. kinda nonsense.

I hate this Strictly vs X Factor crap - I watch both

Strictly has NOT trumped X Factor they do not run against each other - the decline in X Factor viewers has NOTHING to do with Strictly but with Simon Cowell not having his finger on the pulse and the fact that pretty much all singing talent shows are down - to imply it has anything to do with Strictly is wrong

But X factor result show figs are vastly more than SCD not that it matters - it is very smug to assume X Factor is down because of SCD - they dont have the same type of viewedrs X Factor is down because show is not what it was and has nothing to do with Strictly which is not run against it

I've never really been bothered about which programme has more viewers, because I don't watch X Factor anyway, but I have been annoyed in the past at Louis gloating over XF winning the ratings "war". It seems, suddenly, that he is not concerned about SCD's higher viewing figures..........................

This is true actually, although i have read that Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh get really, really brassed off with all the headlines and talk about SCD beating X-factor in the ratings, which is a good enough reason for prolonging threads like this, imho.

Yes much better. What a relief that Aleesha has gone.

And to a genre that suits her so much better.

I did watch both, but i have dumped X Factor this year as the quality of singers is piss poor. However i will watch X Factor USA.

If Simon and Sharron came back X Factor would be on top again.

Nobody's comparing Strictly ratings with X Factor, but there was a time, they overlap (and it was SO important to Simon then that they have a higher ratings (the time I still watched X Factor, which was the year Leona won).

If indeed winning the ratings war isn't important to ITV or Simon Cowell, then why was he so SMUG and made it quite clear he was poaching Alesha away, and himself admitting, trying to damage Strictly's ratings.

Now thanks to him, when Alesha's gone, suddenly, two weeks in a row the ratings of Strictly became higher than XF. Long may this continue!

Another huge victory for SCD in the ratings war. A peak of 10.5 million played against X-Factors 8.09. And Strictly averaged 9.96m against XF's 7.6m

Interesting that the "coup" of taking Alesha from SCD has resulted in it trouncing TXF in the ratings. It's really beginning to look like Simon did the Beeb a favour.

Obviously it's not all about Alesha but, with the majority of posters being very positive about Darcey. It's beginning to look like Simon doesn't know the GBP as well as he thought he did.
