I think you've got your wires a bit crossed there (I'll assume that rather than purposely embellishing) - a female paediatrician had to leave her home when it was vandalised due to people mistaking the two words, but no-one "murdered [an] elderly gentleman" because of it.
I believe you are right the lady concerned lives in Wales
Around about the same time though there were several news reports of people one of whom was indeed a pensioner being murdered after being mistaken as one
Hence my faulty memory of events
It was however claimed that some of these attacks were in part due to slightly inaccurate reporting in the press
But happy to hold my hands up on that
My original comments re Ms Bercow and her fellow tweeters stand though
And you are quite right there's no way I would purposely embellish on such a serious subject

DWTS judge Julianne Hough just outed Mean Girls star Jonathan Bennett!

Interesting post particularly the end comments about openly speculating and discussing others
Have to say I've not heard of the gentleman concerned and if it was done on purpose rather a nasty thing to do

What an extraordinarily arrogant post. Just because you or someone else thinks this thread sullies DS.

It's been here for years and it doesn't seem like it's going anywhere which seems to indicate DS has no problem with it. DEAL WITH IT.
It's has indeed been here for years and on the whole DS has had no problems with it but just like 99% of threads on the system certain posts have been removed when either complaints have been made or it's felt posters have overstepped the mark

Speculating yes but all I'm saying is be aware over speculating can get you in trouble
Why do you think the other week no less than ten threads were removed by DS after time and time again posters tried to open dialogues on an on going case ???
Let's say for the sake of argument one of the people named in this thread reads a statement you have made about them on here and you get a letter telling you they are going to sue you ???
Is your defence going to be everyone else did it ??
If so you will find as Ms Bercow did that won't wash AND DS won't help you as you are solely responcible. for what you post
Her re tweeters sound found out the same
It's the same law for twitter Facebook DS and all social media
Sue me for what exactly ? speculating that they might be gay ? its not libellous to speculate someone might be gay .
It is a different matter if i was to publish it as fact . but that is not what i am doing . and with regards to the posts getting deleted , i think you will find you're not allowed to comment on cases where its in the courts .
And the case you mention was nothing to do with speculating about a persons sexuality , from what i remember she said the person was involved in under age sex crimes (notice she did not speculate , she said he DID it )
Massive difference .

I hate the undercurrent of homophobia from some posters. There is nothing wrong with being gay so why should there be an issue with such speculation.

I'm sure I heard he was gay a few months ago as I was really surprised.

By the way, still cannot believe we get the posters on this thread moaning about supposedly outing someone. Why actually come on to the thread and post thus keeping the supposed 'outings' in the 'public eye'.

Are people really so thick and have nothing better to do with their time?

I think you know Darn well that my point was NOT whether the gentleman was or was not a paedophile it was the fact that Sally and her 'sheep' were deluded enough to think they could make comments on the guy on twitter and think somehow they are immune to the law
They weren't and so she was prosecuted
It's worth adding by the way the gentleman she named in such a cavalier fashion passed away a couple of weeks after he had SUCCESSFULLY sued her
His family though obviously without physical proof and with him being elderly firmly believe that his hounding was indirectly linked to his death
A lot of people who are not always fully aware of the facts are quick enough to jump on the bandwagon
And if you don't agree that sometimes a little knowledge is a dangerous thing look at the morons the other year who murdered one elderly gentleman as they didn't know the difference between a paediatrician and a paedophile
Another example Ian H Watkins from Steps and Ian Watkins the musician locked away last year (and incidentally I like everyone else hope he doesn't come out again EVER)
As I said in my earlier post I'm not a killjoy prude or anything else merely pointing out that just sometimes people overstep the mark but obviously you can't be bothered reading my posts properly
Oh I read it.

So what exactly has anyone said on this thread that you believe they could be sued over then? All I see are people speculating on whether people are gay or not. A bit of idle gossip and nothing more. Certainly nothing that anyone with a modicum of common sense would bother going to court over.

There should bs an issue with it when it has caused hurt and upset to the person concerned
As far as Homophobia is concerned in my last job I spent over ten years in a hotel environment where I think at least 45% of the staff were out.and proud of it
As part of my job I was a delegate on the hotels employee consultative forum where I spent many hours dealing with colleagues who came to me with homophobic and racist issues so know at first hand how upsetting idle gossip unsubstantiated rumours and things related to it can be and I'm proud to say my hotel and it's parent company had a zero tolerance policy to it
For myself publicly or in private I couldn't care less if my many friends and colleagues were gay straight bi black white Muslim catholic and every permutation in between
They are my friends for who they are not for who they happen to sleep with
I don't think Ive personally made any comment whatsoever that could be in anyway construed as homophobic on this or any other thread ... in fact I'd be mortified if I'd done so even unintentionally
my comment on the dancing with the stars contestant summons up my whole attitude to it in general and that is this
If a person knowingly outs somebody that's nothing short of nasty and malicious in my book
And I'd say that regardless of whether it's an A lister or a bloke who lives down the road
I personally don't care for the tone of several people on here gay and straight and am starting to think that instead of living in 2014 we have gone back pre Wolfenden report

Did we all miss Sir Ian's accidental 2012 possible-outing of Richard Armitage?

Not that it's much of a shock.

I'd read about that a while ago. Maybe on this very thread, I don't remember.

Nothing to do with speculation about his sexuality, but Richard Armitage looks like a cross between Hugh Jackman and Richard Madeley.

He was pretty smouldering in the TV series of Robin Hood as ye olde bad guy.

and no one has said anything homophobic on here either.

the obsession that someone must be gay even with little or no evidence is baffling.

It is, but there's also nothing really wrong with it.

From Last year. Luke Hemming's from Five seconds of Summer. I get a gay vibe from him.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BVMMvcnIIAEAx8c.jpg. I cant find any articles about this at all not even ones talking about any twitter hack.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jason Orange comes out soon, now that he's left Take That.

I see George Clooney is parading his wife-to-be in front of the cameras and the press just lap it up and stick it on thier front pages.
