If this WERE the case, why are we assuming that his suicide came down to -just- being outed by the English press? There is foreign media, plus the possibility of a spouse or partner/children finding out if a lover could potentially go to them and expose a secret affair. Then the knock-on effect of other things being found out or coming to light...
It's all theoretical, of course. But there were rumours. Rumours are rumours, but they were there, rightly or wrongly.
I keep an open mind. The man might have been in debt or had drinking or drug issues for all anyone knows, or simply hid severe depression or bipolar disorder very well. Or any combination.
But being able to expose a thing isn't solely reliant on the English media.
