What about Scottish actor Joe McFadden from Holby and Heartbeat? He's always someone who has set off my gaydar.

Yeah, definitely get that vibe from him

Yes, actually it does have a one-word title.

Here's another clue. His initials are like a type of Radio.

But here's a clue - one of the sitcom's initials is 'J'.”

The show in question - the lead character lead the suite life at sea in her teens, and is now on dry land as a nanny. The costar has one of the sets of initials from chinchin's last post.

Interesting article that I thought was topical and relevant for this thread.

Thanks for that interesting article.

This bit shocked me somewhat.

''While more and more Americans endorse LGBT rights, many have trouble suspending disbelief when it comes to seeing gay actors portraying certain roles. In a survey commissioned by Variety, six in 10 adults say they would be less likely to see an action film with a gay leading man or woman, while four in 10 say they’d be more likely to skip an action film with a lead gay character.

The scale of these productions may make gay action stars wary of making any kind of announcement that could depress ticket sales.''

I can't say it's all that surprising to be honest. Action is one genre where there is an expectation of the male lead being "manly".

Really?

I don't think anyone's sexuality impacts on whether he/she is a good/bad actor and I am genuinely surprised that others do.

Or another song by Joshua Kadison about a girl who paints a picture.

And yet where it really counts, in real life, not action films, how many countless gay men/women suffered torture and died fighting in wars down the ages, being 'manly', alongside straight men.

What demographic took the survey interview and where, would be more revealing. I thought this part from George Takei was worth a mention:

'As society changes, that caution will fade, predicts “Star Trek” actor George Takei, who came out in 2005. But Takei acknowledges that right now, the economic risk is big. “You’re spending sometimes hundreds of millions,” he says. “Studios want every dollar to count.”'

I still don't think one survey is representitive of all views or all demographics. I don't generally trust any surveys, no matter what they are about. Pro or con.

I get the impression that Queen Takei is being increasingly ignored in the US, especially by Trek fans, many of whom seem to be sick to the back teeth of him and his behaviour since he came out. He used to come across as a decent guy when he was in the closet, but during the last 10 years after telling the world what it already knew, he's become an insufferable ass.

Yeah, not like the 'straight' insufferable asses... Seriously, what is your deal? I don't think George Takei is being ignored. Far from it. Especially from LGBT fans of Star Trek.

Although there are always exceptions who show that audiences can get past it when they want to. John Barrowman does nicely as a SiFi action hero - ok not leading man since Torchwood but still he was the lead it that.

I get the impression he's a perfect person to comment on something directly related to him in the industry.

He's an older man. I really doubt he cares about being front and centre anymore as you suggest. He's made his fortune off Star Trek. You make it sound like he's gunning for the lead in the next Mad Max.

Thanks, you've helped me work it out.

For what it's worth, it wouldn't surprise me if he was..
