That's not really how the world works - and especially nowadays about being gay. Straight or gay, who your partner is, is very important in life, private and public, to outsiders. We are all constantly invited to things as a couple, including work and professional events. Your colleagues want to meet your other half, you are not invited to social events with your parents, usually not your children, but you are frequently asked to bring your other half. It's why people get married in public and their relationship is publically and legally documented. It matters to other people and to an open free society of equals.
Especially in the world of football, which appears to be quite homophobic and behind the times, we need world class footballers to come out as gay. Actors, politicians, business people, religious people, all sorts in all walks of life, have come out and it has made things easier and more natural for everybody else. It just takes a few at the top to start.
I am not saying Ronaldo is gay and if he isn't then it's irrelevant, but he makes vast amounts of additional money through being a celebrity in the public eye and through marketing his image. He has invited the world into his life, he isn't just a footballer, he has opted to live a very public life for profit, therefore he should be open about his significant other. And if he did come out, he would get a fantastic welcome and tons of support and would be acknowledged as courageous and enlightened.
