Agreed.

Imagine the uproar if Tom Daley was to date a woman again.

I think that is why some people bring up the fact the vast majority of people are straight, which people seem to then get pissed off about

It's like the old American South 'one drop of black blood means you're black' idea

If a man has ever done anything with another man, most people will view him as 100% gay

I dunno about "most" people taking that view, but some certainly do.

But on the flipside if someone has had a relationship with a member of the opposite sex some people insist they are 100 percent straight. My problem is the people who would be furious if someone said Matt Bomer was straight but think it is fine for someone to suggest someone is gay without any proof.

He'd probably be branded a "traitor" along the lines of Cynthia Nixon.

There's no doubt that someone on datalounge or tumblr would say something like that. Of course most people don't take a great deal of notice of DL or tumblr lol.

It'd be very difficult for him, and pretty much impossible if he was publicly switching between Men and Women.

The only guys in the public eye that have managed the whole Gay to Straight thing are Gavin Rossdale ("youthful indiscretion for several years with 80's pop star Marilyn), Tom Robinson (who describe himself as "a gay man who happens to be in love with a woman") and the director Stephan Daldry (who seemingly married a woman only because he wanted children?).

I suppose you could also count Marlon Brando, who seems to have managed Gay to Straight and back a few times.
Elton John could also be cited for his marriage to Renata , but everyone thought it was bollocks at the time and he was just trying to distance himself from the stigma of AIDS in the 1980's. He has more than made up for that with his foundation though.

Being truly Bisexual for a man in the public eye even now is pretty much impossible. We seem to like everyone to pick a side and stay there.

Oh gosh. There is a forum where they have been bashing Jessie J for quite some time now because they are all convinced she is dating Tinie Tempah now, but hiding it. Apparently she is a liar because she is dating him while being a lesbian and a liar for not telling the world they are dating. It has also been stated that she needs to stop hiding it because everyone knows. I just don't get it.

They want her to be open about her being in a relationship with TT, but they think she is hiding that she is a lesbians, not bisexual, by being with him. it doesn't make sense. How can you pretend to not be a lesbian by being in a relationship with a man that you aren't telling people about? Surely she would have shouted it from the mountaintops long ago if she wanted to not look like a lesbian considering they believe she has been dating him for almost a year, maybe longer. Or maybe.....she really is bisexual? Shock!! Horror!!

I used to think he was gay, so I was very surprised when it emerged that he had a long-term girlfriend and children.

People trying to dictate others sexuality is the worst.

Yep. Though in her case she poorly chose her words and could explained what she was saying much better.

Not many women would be happy to properly date a man who fancies other men, not when they can have one who doesn't

Just the way it is

I don't think you can make generalisations like that - everyone's different and people can and have the ability to fall in love with anyone, whether they are the same sex/have been with the same or opposite sex, it really comes down to the connection between those two people.

Just what I think

Duncan has since admitted he's gay and used the term bisexual to test reaction ...a hypocrit is never a good role model . ..I believe the same will be proved of Daley in the future . Jessie J practiced the same hypocrisy .
I agree Gavin was a liar and an idiot .

I read an interview the other day in which Duncan described himself as bi. Your comments about Tom and Jessie are petty and unfounded. Tom never labelled himself, Jessie says she is bi. Who are you to say otherwise?

Pretty sure Duncan won't date a woman again - but I don't think he's a hypocrit for saying he's bi, I just think it's the natural thing to say when you've been with plenty of women in the past (including conceiving a child with one), but now want to date guys. If he outright said he was gay, that would 1) imply that he was living a lie beforehand, and 2) be a pretty rotten thing for his child to live with. Saying that you're gay after fathering a child just screams 'mistake', which isn't nice for a child to hear.

He's getting very into the gay 'lifestyle', which is why I don't think he'll go back to dating women. But that doesn't mean he's not attracted to them or didn't enjoy being with the ones he was with. If you've experienced both sides of something, you're always going to prefer one side and want to pursue that. Personally I think it would make life more difficult if you kept switching between preferences. If I was with someone like that, I'd always be worried that their 'phase' would end and that they'd dump me for someone of the opposite gender.

As for people coming out as bi and going back into the straight world - Lindsay Lohan jumps to mind. I mean, I know her life has more or less been a complete train wreck anyway, but she was with Samantha Ronson for a while, wasn't she?

In this context of what Duncan's "getting very into".... shagging blokes rather than women, presumably.

People may not like this but I think bisexuality is the acceptable face of being gay.
Duncan struggled with being gay and has come out as bi rather than say what he is, 100% gay.If I was gay I'd be furious with Duncan, jessie j.

I don't think that qualifies as a "lifestyle".

Ah well, I was just trying to go for the simple answer. I have no idea what his "lifestyle" is, was or may be.

I dislike the word "lifestyle" because it doesn't make any sense. Gay people are varied and different and are not pigeon holed into anything singular.
