Doubt Louis is gay. Whether he is or not doesn't matter a whit to me. But I agree with you, I will never understand (or accept) hubris from those who keep making an issue of it. Enough already. Respect people's privacy and give them the benefit of the doubt.
I dated a wonderful, fun guy who turned bi a year after we began dating. While he loved women (and was a great boyfriend), he said he always felt different even as a small boy, so he finally gave in to the desire to experiment. It didn't matter to me since I never saw him as a potential mate, although he told others he never got over me after I suddenly married someone else. He will always be one of my favorite people, ever.
To me, continuing to speculate someone is gay is a form of homophobia.
