Very true. How can they not realise they are homophobic and why even click on the thread. I guess some people just like getting worked up for all the wrong reasons .

Yes they could be lying because history tell us this could be the case. For example;
"Blue's Duncan James has revealed that Geri Halliwell proved to be “great disguise” to hide the star's bisexuality".

"Danielle Fishel is no stranger to gossip. After all, the former Boy Meets World star romanced *NSYNC’s Lance Bass, who came out of the closet in 2006. They dated from 1999-2000"

"Alexander Skarsgard and Ellen Page have been quietly dating for over a year, and today we’re getting a first look at the adorable couple cuddling over the weekend!
The two are currently on tour promoting their new movie, ‘The East,’ "

Ricky Martin had a girlfriend for 14 years before coming out

I think before the show I always worried. I thought, 'What am I going to have to do about my sexuality? Am I going to have to have fake girlfriends and stuff like that," Jaymi revealed to Capital FM. Jaymi Hensley from union J.

Thomas Hitzlsperger today became the first Premier League footballer to come out as gay after recently realising he 'preferred' men.- Was engaged to a women until 2007.

Celebrities lie. We only see what we are supposed to see because there is too much money, PR and fear driving them into the closet. questioning someone's sexuality isn't homophobia (it's mindless gossip but not homophobia).

Erm your point is? Iggy Pop and others said they were gay to get out of military service and various other reasons. does that meant that says they are gay could be lying? No. Plus. Ellen and Alexander never dated and never said they did.

This thread is tedious because people refuse to believe or accept it when someone says they are heterosexual or has a relationship with someone from the opposite sex. It is refusing to accept people for who they are and refusing to believe them for no good reason. No one can honestly say it is acceptable to say "so they could still be gay" about people in heterosexual relationships. That is a double standard and does prove that some here are just trying to convince themselves that anyone may be gay.

So homosexuality is the only sexuality set in stone and only people who say they are gay should be believed now? Very fair. Call me homophobic for that and you just prove you have no legitimate reason to think what I say is inaccurate. I don't give a **** what peoples sexuality is, it doesn't affect me at all. But hypocrisy and unfairness is the worst.

I still think Jenny must be trolling or parodying deluded lesbians, what with her past "reasons" for doubting someone's heterosexuality. You can't tell me she doesn't have an agenda here.

People don't lie about being gay because being gay is inferior in the mainstream hetronormative society. Everyone is straight until proven otherwise because it's "offensive" to think someone might be gay, right? Straight people are the ones who have to fight to have a legally recognized relationship in their country? or live in fear of the death penalty because of their sexuality? or live in fear of being "straight bashed" yeah? You really think these celebrities are sat at home heartbroken because people on the internet think they might be gay?

Heteronormative society? What are you talking about? Most people are assumed straight because most people ARE straight. It's not hard to understand is it? Or are you in denial about that? Many people ask me if I have a boyfriend and I'm not offended. I am bisexual but people assume straight because of the percentages not because they hate gay people!

When did I say straight people have to fight for their rights or any of that? You are deflecting! What LGBT people face in many countries is absurd and disgusting but that has nothing to do with what I am saying. If someone says they are straight and is in a heterosexual relationship, to not believe them despite no evidence to the contrary is offensive because you are calling them a liar, not because there is anything wrong with being gay.

It shouldn't be hard to understand really. Homophobia is serious, which is why some in this thread are frankly ****ing insulting to those who have suffered genuinely by saying my posts are homophobic.

Oxford English dictionary, 2014 "heteronormative-denoting or relating to a world view that promotes heterosexuality as the normal or preferred sexual orientation".

Why should we presume they're straight when I've presented to you evidence of celebrities lying about they're sexual orientation? It's happens! Documented by people how have been there, done it and are now wearing the t-shirt. yet you still maintain that celebrities wouldn't lie about their sexual orientation?

I hope you don't think I meant you when I said some posts are almost homophobic; far from it. I actually share your point of view. I was referring to those who dismiss certain straight people, "Oh, he's gay" -- as a putdown. It's a favorite tactic some use against those they dislike. I find it disrespectful to gay people. How many people who called Tom Cruise gay meant it even remotely as a compliment?

Don't worry I didn't think you meant me. Just the people who clearly have no response to my comments so resort to name calling.
Glad you and others agree with my point of view. Good to see not everyone is so hypocritical! Honestly how disrespectful is it to say "they could still be gay" when someone says they are straight or is in a relationship. My problem is people being called liars when there is no reason to doubt them.
According to a select few on here it is acceptable to doubt 90 per cent or more of the population being straight because Elton John got married to a woman

Also I agree with you about it often being negative. I don't think it really is on here, much of it seems to be fantasy. But I have a straight friend who often got called gay and not in a positive way. It annoyed him senseless because people were telling him he was something he wasn't, something people on here should know all about!

I never called you names and responded to your comments with proof that celebrities lie yet you don't still don't see any reason why a celebrity would lie about their sexuality. You called for evidence and I gave it to you. Just because it doesn't fit you're theory you choose to ignore.

Wait. Stop.
Some people saying a few words to you that you don't agree with is insulting to those who have suffered actual homophobia?

Dear oh dear, you really are deluded. Welcome to my ignore list. So sick of seeing your moronic rantings.

Erm read it again. Calling me homophobic for pointing out the ridiculous nature of this thread is insulting to people who have suffered actual homophobia. I don't care if you ignore my posts, good. I should do the same to the clearly delusional people who think it's ok to try and say people MIGHT be lying for no good reason

We're conditioned by tabloids and the cult of celebrity to wonder whether people, especially men, might be gay

Homophobia my arse

Chris Mears English Diver is certainly getting his picture in the Gay Press of late, this month featured in Coitus Magazine & Winq. Is he trying to tell us something or has his agent just discovered a rich vein of income for him, nothing wrong with either as far as I'm concerned. Just thought I'd throw it out there, I'm not saying if he is or isn't I don't know.

Orrrr, you could save time by simply effing off out of the thread if people are bothering you so much.

No one here is hurting anyone, it was all just harmless speculation and a bit of a laugh.

Someone on their high horse fighting a non existent argument doesn't make them noble, with no convincing valid points and blind outrage they're just an idiot on a horse.

Yes, this handful of celebrities lied/kept their sexuality to themselves - all celebrities are therefore lying about their sexuality! Straight relationships don't exist! I can't believe I never realised this before!

FFS, you cannot be serious?!

FWIW, attackmusic, I know what you are trying to say, and you are right. You have not, to my eyes, said anything homophobic but have received a lot of abuse in return.

Lu88, I will answer your question about John Travolta's sexuality - NOBODY KNOWS. There have been numerous rumours about him, yes, but that is merely suggestive, it's not proof of anything. Unless you are privy to some information nobody else is, you don't know either. Even if Travolta is gay, the fact that he chose to hide this by being in a long term relationship with a woman is not automatic proof that any other celebrity in a long term relationship is gay.

Suggesting someone is gay is not homophobic. Suggesting they are a pathological liar is insulting and libellous. That is attackmusic's issue. That is my issue. How much clearer do we need to be?

Edit: I should be clear that I don't object to speculation, discussion of rumours etc. - it is the persistent dismissal of heterosexual relationships and frequent dogged and aggressive insistence that a particular individual of a poster's choosing "must" be gay, despite any evidence the contrary, that is the problem.

Have fun.

Thank you! It is the "there is never proof someone is straight but there can be proof someone is gay" argument that is a ridiculous double standard and is my issue. But let's face it, if someone is delusional enough to say "so, they might still be gay" about everyone we are fighting a losing battle aren't we? Hopefully the few saying that are very young and will grow out of it, particularly the resorting to calling someone homophobic for no reason

Agreed.

What was a fun/light hearted thread with gossip has lost it's way.

I don't think anybody who has been reading this thread for years took it seriously, it was a fun/joke thread, now it's endless pages of outrage for suggesting someone is gay, shame but the thread had a decent run.

If Alan Carr had never officially came out, there'd be people on here calling others homophobes for suggesting he might be gay
