Not for the BBC One showing.
Actually I don't include BBC Three ratings therefore it is under seven million, if BBC One had a plus one channel then it would be acceptable to include the plus ratings but the repeat is on Three. |

Emmerdale losing its sparkle slowly, pretty soon all the first showings will be 6m or less, it just doesn't pull in those extra viewers.
As for EE all we can hope that the BBC3 figures remain strong and episodes timeshift well + iPlayer of course.....I work 4-8 shifts now, so I have to record or iPlayer any Soaps I wish to watch. Ratings for all terrestrial channels have dramatically declined since 2005 and the soaps in particular have been hit harder as they had further to fall. Within five years I expect Emmerdale back in daytime and EE and Corrie clinging on for dear life in prime time. |

Lets hope the new overall boss kicks her ass to the kerb and gets someone who actually has fresh ideas and the intelligence to stop the rot. |

Surprised Eastenders still hasnt got over 8million this Autumn. During the summer people were saying it was because of BBQs but last two months it must be because of bad quality because the weather isnt good.

And yet still declining, the end of October and still no 8 million, what the hell is Newman doing to stop the rot? nothing it appears and still the mess continues. If it fails to be top dog on Christmas Day then she will have problems.

Eastenders was unlucky the last couple years a lot of its most loved characters like Peggy Mitchell, Pat, Dot Cotton and Stacey left. They were part of the furniture of the show, the first three anyway, and new characters who have come in arent so loved by audiences. Itd be like Coro St. without Ken and Deidre, the fans who love them would get annoyed and potentially switch off. Sharon Watts is back but her return didnt do anything for the ratings.

Did Lorraine Newman steal your crisps once?
You sound obsessed with her performance and Eastenders's ratings. You really need to get another hobby. Anyway if the show or any BBC production is not performing as it should then I have every right to question the production values, team, scripts and acting. After all like 20 odd million others fund this via the license fee hence I like everyone else has a vested interest in how the BBC spends its funding and that it is maximised to ensure top quality production. |

It's being reported that the editor of Daybreak, David Kermode, is standing down next month as the recent relaunch has failed to improve on ratings. It has been averaging 700,000 against the BBC's 1.5 million. One wonders how long ITV will keep on trying.......
Quote:
How sad. The poor bloke never had a chance tasked with mission impossible and given just a couple of months to get a positive result.
At least Kermode will find work easily elsewhere. Nobody is going to judge him for not meeting ITV's unrealistic demands. Daybreak meanwhile has just about ran out of chances as far as viewers are concerned. Quote:
Daybreak continues to fail then, ITV must be tearing its hair out, not knowing what to do.

Change the name?
How about "TV-am"? That sounds suitably "fresh", to use the mot du jour.... ![]() Quote:
I was surprised that ITV kept the Daybreak name around for this latest revamp, when there was nothing else from the firs Daybreak showing left.
No question the show will need a new name, but im not sure how much more they can fiddle the format. |

7.00m for EastEnders is from 19:30 to 20:00, 7.4m is tape-checked from 19:30 to 19:55.

Is Daybreak such a damaged brand name that perhaps it would have been better to change the title after the relaunch? Let BBC Breakfast do the news and Daybreak be a magazine show.

Decent figure for Town with Tourettes on C4....
Time to replace Daybreak with News hours and an extended Lorraine.....send Aled back to Songs of Praise or the valleys..... ![]() Got to agree about Daybreak - Try 6-7am Text service, 7-8am The ITN News Hour, 8-9.25am Lorraine.

All this talk of "sub-8m EE"....
w/e 14 October 3 EASTENDERS (MON 2000) 8.50 4 EASTENDERS (TUE 1928) 8.37 5 EASTENDERS (THU 1929) 8.28 w/e 7 October 4 EASTENDERS (TUE 1928) 8.32 5 EASTENDERS (FRI 1959) 8.10 w/e 30 September 2 EASTENDERS (MON 2000) 8.27 3 EASTENDERS (TUE 1930) 8.26 4 EASTENDERS (THU 1929) 8.00 w/e 23 September 2 EASTENDERS (MON 2000) 8.50 3 EASTENDERS (TUE 1929) 8.09 I could go on... Overnights are increasingly irrelevant, as I have pointed out once or twice. And especially for BBC shows attracting a younger, more mobile, more upmarket audience than ones pitched at ITV's grannies and dole-dossers. ![]() Seriously, I would think EE will be back at 9m levels soon as winter sets in, and touching 10m now and then by Christmas. Split in to two parts on Christmas night, hopefully, it will do fine. I think a 2nd half of EE and The Royles will perform admirably against Downton. |

Another relaunch is going to be hugely humiliating for ITV, they might as well bring back Chiles and Bleakley..It should be looking at a totally different type of programme in the early morning.
Am I right in saying that ITV own the rights to The Big Breakfast? Daybreak, GMTV, that whole operation is dead. They need a completely different direction now. |
