Quite what ITV do now however is a mystery, all they can hope now, is (as already mentioned) make a GMTV like show, make it good, and hope it doesn't loose anymore viewers.

whilst unoriginal ideas are very ITV, I just dont see The Big Breakfast as ITV. Also ive yet to really see a show be revived based on people liking it when they were young, be mega successful, expect maybe Doctor Who. You need to program for today, not the nostalgia of today.

Hatfields and McCoy did fine, I wasn't expecting huge figures simply because it was 2 hours long and Westerns aren't a big pull, it was decent enough but it'll interesting whether it'll remain over the 1m mark. I'm sort of surprised how it did in the US but maybe it's more familiar source material over there than it is even with Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton.

It's breakfast television, and they're desperate. They clearly have no clue what to do. I wasn't even a fan of The BB, I'm just saying.

Back on topic, while I don't see why the BBC should actively chase ratings and it goes against the grain for me to say this but in a way they have too in order to justify to a degree their television output.

Probably but it was a winning format, the right mixture betwween light and serious, just like ITV was so good at in the eighties.

No real point bringing back anything if you dont have the presenters to back it up. You can call it #TV:AM all you like, but you would need to get the right presenters.

A plus channel can be counted as it is effectively a main channel but an hour later hence why I have no probs with ITV plus one, Three is a different channel with a different demographic reach therefore it should not be included, if for instance I did agree with the inclusion of all that days showings of say EE,Corrie & Emmerdale then with plus one and the repast showings on the ITV channels then the ITV pair would be way ahead of EE.

If Three's EE ratings are to be consolidated into the main data then its entirely acceptable to consolidate ALL Corrie/Emmerdales ratings regardless of the channel they aired on.

Seriously can you imagine if ITV 'brought back' his radio show, only with live streaming on ITV and for all purposes it was exactly like the radio show. I suspect it would do better than Daybreak.

would ITV allow him to go on any rants that may upset the sponsors? Still that is about ITVs creative level.

Chris Moyles has more creativity in his thumb than Daybreak/GMTV have in total. Apologies if this is a not so fashionable thing to say.

Not really as timeshifts are generally irrelevent to advertisers/ITV. Barb figures even strip out the ad breaks.

Does anyone have any figures for Daybreak lately? It started around 600k but I haven't heard anything since. Is it still around that/dropped/increased? Would be interesting to know, especially to see if people are jumping the gun a little bit about the editor leaving and planning the next relaunch 8 weeks after the last one.

Continuation of trend of strong ITV4 football ratings going hand in hand with weak ITV1 ones as discussed a few weeks ago.

One other thing it highlights is the very good value ITV has got for the Europa League contract. With BT on the scene next time I wonder if ITV will be able to retain as much as they have or whether some / all will end up moving to BT (and / or Sky - if BT outbid Sky for some / all CL then Sky could easily turn attention to EL).

I don't know why people here want Daybreak to be axed. The ONLY alternative is repeats of normal programmes, resulting in no breakfast show at all. For an example of this see Channel 4. They'd be better off just carrying on as they are with 700k.

By the way, when did Robbie or Samuel start working at The Guardian? The article mentions how Daybreak fell to a low of 300k last January. Wasn't that on Bank Holiday Monday?!

The quiet success recently has been All Star Mr and Mrs, which is creeping towards 5 million. Derek Batey would be delighted his old show is doing well and nice to see the ghost of Border Television in peak time.

Why haven't the officials for ITV1 for w/e 14th October been released yet?

And what will they do for BGT next year with the separate results shows? The shows haven't peaked any higher than 11m since they've made it a separate show, compared to the highs of 2009 it doesn't seem to do any justice. The first 15 minutes of the half-an-hour show is filler, guests etc.

In terms of XF, there wasn't really a 'shock' result last week, what's the chance we will see a slight (positive) change?
