On a more serious note, what sort of message does that send out to the young & impressionable bracket of the audience? It's okay to go out and get ****faced even if you have important responsibilities the next day, they can easily be put off. We've all been there, even primetime TV stars.

Irresponsible can be added to the very long list of things that are wrong with the damaged brand that is X Factor UK. All anyone associated with this poor excuse for entertainment can do is pray that the weather gods have done enough to steady the ship a bit. Can't rule out a small boost either in these fairly brutal weather conditions for the time of year but you'd struggle to find a positive audience turnaround less deserved, if so. As ever in these kind of situations, the audience share percentage might tell us a bit more.”

Goodness - a 'will somebody think of the children' post. We don't know the exact nature of her illness and TV is not a replacement for good parenting.

Nah, I think the die is cast for this year. I predict a SCD clear win now for Saturdays, I don't think XF will claw it back. They'll have to re-group and have major surgery next year.

Twas a good XF Halloween show though, and Gary's Tulisa put down is likely to cause some headlines.

X Factor certainly seems to create a lot more 'buzz' on twitter than SCD. And just noticed that @bbcstrictly has 140,000 followers whilst @thexfactor has 1.9m followers. Must be the demographic.

Last week Strictly beat XFactor by 1.7million viewers. I predict tonight SCD won by an even bigger number, maybe 2million because all the good buzz and word of mouth is with SCD. My predictions:

Strictly: 10.2m
XFactor: 8.2m
Merlin: 5.7m
Pointless: 4.4m
Casualty: 4.0m
Take Me Out: 3.1m
YBF: 2.5m
Golden Rules of Tv: 1.8m

Well that differs from the version of events given earlier in the thread. As a proud non viewer, I wouldn't know what explanation is being served up by a red faced Dermot.

X Factor making headlines in the papers - who'd have thought it!!

Surely readers of the Sunday rags are desensitised by the circus that surrounds it now. They are hardly going to go, "Oh, look! King of Charisma Gary Barlow said something mildly unflattering about Tulisa on air! WHAT A GAMECHANGER. Count me in next Saturday."

I tried to watch a few episodes since it moved to ITV but it's mostly ITV stars who I'm not interested in along with the odd decent name, but the show doesn't flow so well with ads, Jonathan never looks as comfortable and the set is horrible.

They should definitely work on the guests and improving the look/feel of the show if they want it to rate respectably.

I'm sure you are saving yourself to mop up every last moment of the moral bastion that is Big Brother on C5. No hint of controversy around that show (or young people drinking to excess).

Ooh, nice save ! Must have taken all of 10 seconds to come up with.

Can't say the thought of Big Brother providing limited supplies of alcohol to adult housemates for consumption in a controlled environment keeps me up at night, to be honest.

I think that is a major factor. I notice Norton has Robbie Williams next week, Ross has ................Olly Murs

Probably about right though, I would be surprised if these were any more than ~3% out

You did notice which user posted the version of events given earlier didn't you?

Agree that Gary's comment to Tulisa isn't going to have any affect though - it was a bit of an moment when he said it but it seems they've resolved it now anyway. I can't see the numbers changing much for the rest of the series, it seems to have found a 'core' audience.

I quite like the set actually but the guests aren't great I agree. They aren't necessarily ITV stars every week to be fair but the booking is a bit uninspired. Kylie Minogue is a good booking for tonight but the other guests (Bear Grylls and Russell Howard) aren't so great. It is often the case that he has one good guest and then some mediocre ones with them. It is a bit better than when he first started on ITV though to be fair, and is generally an entertaining enough watch.

ITV are still running late now, so the reason for the late running and all the resulting ITV-bashing was obviously just made up by people in this thread

Your posts are really poor quality tonight. The comment about JR having mainly ITV names on, isn't even correct and smacks of something that people who dislike ITV just say even before they know what the line up is. (Just like how This Morning apparantly talks about Kerry Katona and Katie Price every day according to some). Which shows this series have had 'mostly ITV stars' appearing?

Yet again this thread is ITV bashing. There is apparantly only room for one chat show on TV. So because Norton is the highest rating then Ross needs to be axed. All the other chat shows such as Alan Carr are yet again completely off the radar, because they aren't on ITV.

I think Strictly and X Factor will both be up on last week.

I think SCD will win though as it had an earlier start.

I think

SCD 10.5million
The X Factor 9.2million (inc +1)

I just looked at Wikipedia article of Jonathan Ross Show: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Jonathan_Ross_Show

In series 1 there were 29 guests. Out of those, 8 [28%] were obvious Itv stars or from Itv related shows: Will Young, Harry Hill, Louis Spence, Jessica Finaly, Michelle Dockery, Lauara Carmichael, Tulisa, Gary Barlow.

In series 2 there were 54 guests. Out of those, 8 [15%] were obvious Itv stars or from Itv related shows. Paddy McGuinness, Hugh Bonevile, Keith Lemon, Fern Cotton, Holly WIlloughby, JLS, Simon Cowell, David Walliams.

This series there have been 58 guests. Out of these, 11 [19%] have been obvious Itv stars or for Itv related shows: Dom Joly, Suranne Jones, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Mel C, Ben Forster, Cheryl Cole, Gary Barlow, Nicole Sherzinger, Dermot OLeary, Olly Murs, Stacey Solomon

Charming, as ever. I had a feeling they might not get the Andy23 seal of approval. Not sure why............

I'll give you that one. Having looked back on Digiguide for guests this series, the number of ITV stars is actually quite low. I haven't watched any recent episodes and so I was talking about previous series where the guest list was less varied.

That's a step in the right direction, then. Having said that, none of tonight's guests appealed to me. I appreciate Kylie is a good post-X Factor booking though.

Lazy efforts from both SCD and TXF tonight with the Halloween theme yet again. Fine when it falls at the weekend, but midweek is pushing it a bit. TXF would have been better off going with Bond themes tonight considering the plugs throughout, maybe having a Big Band Bond Week or something rather than the half arsed Halloween attempt.

SCD will win by a large margin every week until they finish. Everyone will say it's a great show even though nobody here actually watches it.

TXF will not overtake and will continue as it has done since August. There will be no uplift or trend changes or any other change at all this series.

There will be faux outrage at the TXF rating every week as the same people make the same posts each time.

Certain posters will take the rating and start other threads about it in other parts of the forum.

This will go on until Monday's ratings come in, and start again around Thursday every week until Christmas!

You really are being horrifically rude to DANCC, not sure why you've made this list.

X-factor used to beat SCD all the time in the last few years, it was jammed down everyone's throats. So we're talking about a trend that's recent, not repetitively long.

t seems it's one of the more important shift in ratings since Cowell became dominant, red or black also changing things. Is it meant to be ignored whilst we just genuflect at SyCo's genius.

X Factor made an effort but the only reason you knew it was a Halloween theme was because there was a pumpkin on the screen.

With the colder evenings now I think ratings for Strictly and X Factor could go up. But then I thought that about some other shows this week and it just didn't happen. Shows what I know.

Jessie Js touring during February and March, meaning live shows cant start until March 20th at the earliest. So I dont think it'll launch much earlier than this year, even though Id like it to.
