tv-am went on air on February 1, 1983. Before then I don't recall ITV showed anything in that slot as it was a newly-created franchise although there were one or two experiments with early morning shows, I recall YTV tried out Calendar.A schedule I have for October 1974 shows ITV opened up at 9.30 am with schools and closed at midnight with some regions carrying short religious programmes.

I think the good thing about XF is that it`s stable and is not loosing millions and millions over the weekend. It sheds viewers but not in a huge amount. Stable indeed

are those ratings adjusted for the time slot difficulties.

Last years Official is only 10.35m so it must have a chance off beating that.

No idea, but it would be rather stupid of itv pr to release lower numbers, so I'm sure they will have worked out which would have given them the best ratings when (aggregated), were bound to see more accurate numbers (no rounding to one decimal) later.

Last year's Strictly Halloween show had 10.2m in the overnights so it's down on last year but ahead of The X Factor.

The ratings TV companies get are not tape checked and come from TMS. The ones that Digital Spy use are tape checked and come from Attentional.

Still good against XFactor, and its timeshift have been getting bigger as well as skewing younger.

Seems merlin only grows when strictly grows.

So it didn't timeshift much at all. Down across the board.

Using Merlin's above rating and share there were 23.9m watching TV during Merlin's slot (inc same-day timeshift of that period), compared with 24.1m the previous week. So no massive drop-off in the available audience, at least at that stage of the evening.

Strictly's timeshifts are usually small and up until last year smaller than The X Factor's. Last year's Strictly ended up with 11.29m for the October 29th edition.

But was that the corresponding episode to last year? Live show 5. I think.

Stictly is down 600k, XF is down 1.5m, and Merlin is down 500k.

In terms of XF's ratings, I believe Strictly had a similar fate in series 7 (when a lot of their shows were getting 8-9m and it managed 11.7m (47%) peak for the final). What will XF get tonight though? Compared to 11.7m for the peak two weeks ago, it only managed 11.2m last week (inc +1), apart from Robbie I don't know the other guests, I wonder who will bother tuning in. I think his previous XF performances have garnered media interest so maybe more people will tune in. However, there would have been a lot more viewers for XF last night if they didn't reveal until the middle of the show, that Lucy wasn't performing. It's still disappointing though.

I always go by the week. So last year was week ending October 30th, this year week ending October 28th, both are Halloween weekends.
