Well, that was the excuse given, but it was paper thin. It was evidently moved as a spoiler for The Voice. As the publicity and lead in boosted the ailing BGT, I suspect they will do the same again in 2013.
Do we have an actual Pride of Britain unaggregated rating? Something like 4.5m seems down on what it would usually get. Holly and Paradise held up very well.

Probably seeing something that isn't there... but is anyone else wondering if ITV1's Star Wars season is rather suspiciously well timed? 
Maybe Lucasfilm put in a poilte request to get the films on TV. People have been talking about them on Twitter and DS quite a lot while they've been on - then suddenly Episode VII gets announced. Hmm.

They couldn't have just moved it like that as a spoiler for The Voice at the last minute as studio dates for the live shows etc were already booked and will have been booked months in advance. Cowell was actually filming auditions for X Factor USA during BGT's usual week which is another reason why they'll have moved it. Because of the way ITV's football schedule fell last May combined with the Jubilee meant that BGT had to move a few weeks earlier, whereas next year there are no such events in the way, so it may well return to its normal schedule.
Pride of Britain got 4.53m without +1.

Good job I'm here to ask the questions.
So, worst ratings in years, it actually tied with Holby not beat it, and was only 0.1m overnight viewers ahead of The Paradise - which I reckon may well beat it in the consolidated ratings anyway.
Sorry to rain on anyone's parade...
Isn't XF finishing before 10pm this Saturday? That should spark an improvement by a few 100k. It then depends if many people choose to stay inside on Bonfire night.
Regarding BGT, maybe it could start on 20th April and finish on 8th June, depending on how the half term holidays are mapped out next year. The ratings have yes been flat in the past three years, I think the final would have gotten a much higher rating this year if it was split into two shows, mainly because looking at the 5-minute breakdown that was posted at the time, it had over 13m at one point during the performances. The fact XF on Sunday had its lowest results show since 2008 should give ITV a kick up the backside. I don't know if they are making much use of the Surprise, Surprise lead-in, that seems to be getting decent ratings against Strictly.

Looks like Pride of Britain was down a fair bit from recent years but I imagine ITV will be happy enough with it given how badly they normally do on Tuesdays. Looks like BBC1 took a bit of a denting with Holby and The Paradise both looking quite low last night. BBC 2 posted some good ratings however a very poor night for Channel 4 after 9pm. Rolf Harris doing well on Channel 5 is nice to see though.

Great rating for News at Six. ITV News at 6.30 performed well above average too as viewers flocked to bulletins to get the latest on Sandy.
The BBC should implement many of these changes for The Voice series 2 as others have suggested. They seem to work.

The Voice has completely transformed NBC around. They are currently #1 most popular network so far this season. I dont expect them to stay at #1 all season but it's much better than the 4th place theyre used to!

It's rather tiresome having to read through lengthy posts about scheduling and other rubbish about talent shows, especially when some of those shows aren't even going to be on the air for months.
There are entire sub-forums where these things can be discussed at length, so why a ratings thread is hijacked for this purpose, who knows? People take these talent shows way too seriously.

I thought it was a mistake to do two series a year but it's worked for NBC and the changes to The Voice format have worked too. There is a worry that NBC could yet burn the show out though.

Agreed unless there is major news about both, i don't see the point either. The changes to the US voice have already been mentioned here numerous times already.

I can't see Splash being more than eight episodes, if that. As for when - well we don't know how involved Tom Daley will be (could just be a pre-series training VT, could be weekly), but usually the World Diving Series takes place March to May (4 or 5 events) then he's got the World Champs in the Summer, so a very limited window if he's involved in weekly shows, and you wouldn't think he'd want to be too sidetracked by it.
I can't see it airing in January either - would be a bit odd to have celebs in swimwear on Saturdays then on Ice on Sundays.

Inevitable from the moment that Panorama cleared 5m at 10.35pm that ITV would exercise the opportunity to make some money out of this.
